Bald Deceased Sims in Genealogy Family Tree

Hi everyone,

I play with basic custom content on my sims which is exclusively hair and skin details. My sims 4 game got one of its regular updates so the mods and custom content got disabled as usual. However, I stupidly forgot about this (for some reason there was no usual popup reminding me that they had been disabled) and started up my game. I realized straight away though after seeing that my sims were bald when I was about to play the household. I didn't really think much of it and allowed the custom content and mods, which required me to save and restart. Since I had loaded the game before saving, my sims still didn't have their custom content, so I put their hair and skin detail back on without much thought. However, after a few hours of playing and a few saves later, I realized that the custom content had also disappeared on all of my sims ancestors in the genealogy. So when I pull up the family tree they're all bald. I'm doing the legacy challenge so this is kind of a big deal. Does anyone know of any way to reverse this? Or is there a mod of some kind that allows you to edit sims from the family tree, even when they have been deceased for a while? If I can't fix it I'm going to start again because I can't bare my poor past sims being bald every time I pull up my current sims' genealogy.

Unless you have a backup save from before you saved without CC active, you are probably out of luck on fixing the dead sims in the family tree.  There is no way to fix that, that I know of.  You can fix any ghosts if you can get them on a lot if you have MCCC.  There is an option to take sims not in the current household to CAS.  But if the ghost is not in the game in the hidden sims section, then there is nothing you can do that I know of.

Depending on how many times you saved after you found the issue, you might be able to recover a usable save from before the update.  But if you saved more than 5 times on that save, then it may be too late.  Just use the Main Menu Load Option and select the latest save.  You should see a little button to the left of the play and delete buttons.  It will say Recover save if you mouse over it.

    Hope this helps.

  • I had saved it less than 5 times (just) so I was able to recover it pre-update. Thanks so much for you help 🙂
