@mndysmsh So, does your purchase menu when you click on the bookshelf not look similar to this popup? Can you share a screenshot?
Also, do you have any CC? Can you please try the following and open a new game save and see if any of these issues are still there? You can exit the game without saving. This is just to test.
Move your Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving.
If I try to "purchase books" more than a few times it stops bringing up the menu all together then the pink dot comes up. Other menus are fine. I've attached the screenshot, you can't see it but it says available funds are 999,999,999 when theyre really not. I don't have any cc or mods, brand new installed game and I deleted the .package file.
@mndysmsh I have never had this look of the background being this dark, the popup this low on the page (which could be the screenshot, but I think you said it doesn't center, so maybe that's what you mean?), or the Build Mode tools icon showing with a starburst behind it. I'm not sure what you mean about the $999,999,999 available... I only see $4109?
I would recommend to first try this...
- You said you removed Mods, CC, and localthumbcache.package file. Please make sure these are still removed from the game,
- Next, please check that the game is fully updated.
- Then run a game repair.
- Now please re-enter the game and see if this popup looks normal to you. You can open it in a new game save and don't save this game, just check if the issue is still there.
I also noticed it was darker than usual but it was only like that when I had it in windowed mode to get a screenshot. The household funds are correct, the 999999 is on the book menu. The screenshot is the entire screen so thats how it comes up, to the bottom right and cut off not center of the screen. I can usually see the funds when its full screen but I can't hit okay or whatever to get out of the menu.
Game is updated and repaired. I've tried all of these things multiple times which is why I'm stumped.
@mndysmsh Does it do this in a different household in a brand new game save, and on a new lot (test in one that comes with the game)?
I've tried in a couple different households and bookshelves.
@mndysmsh A friend mentioned that perhaps, since we're seeing that sunburst behind the build & buy tools icon, if there's any chance that your game is in the process of some tutorial that has not completed, and could possibly be interfering with other play while incomplete?
Mine is doing the same thing. I’ve deleted the cache file, I’ve removed all cc/mods, and I’ve repaired the game. This is happening in different save games and all different lots too if that helps.
Apologies for the crappy photo.
@britt_sanderson Thank you for sharing the screenshot... It was helpful. I don't use Mods in Sims, but I'm told that some Mods have settings files in the Saves folder. If that's the case with any of the Mods you removed, you may want to remove those particular settings files. Also, when you removed the Mods, did you move the Mods folder out of the game to your desktop? If not, please do that. Then please remove the localthumbcache.package file again. When the game starts it will make a brand new Mods folder.
Also, a friend suggested to see if you had made any adjustments to the UI settings in the game. If you did, please try returning these settings to default and see if that makes a difference.
It finally worked! Thank you for your help. I ended up reverted all settings to default as well as removing thewhole mods folder, removing localthumbcache.package file and any extra files relating to my mods.
thanks again
