Most likely they are missing species code. But more importantly, yes, you'll need to download updated versions of custom traits when they're fixed.
Or if it's an abandoned one and you're feeling brave, you can try to add the needed part yourself. I can refer to an explanation I wrote on another forum if anyone is interested in trying to learn that themselves.
