Can't save progress

I am experiencing this also but I do have cc and mods. It is quite frustrating! I have lost hours of game play several times. If you save it early in the game, it will save it, so I was able to go into build mode and make changes to the house I had just moved my sim into. But then after playing for a bit, I had to leave the game, so I tried saving and it would just sit there, telling me it was saving but it was frozen. The next time I opened it, I tried playing a little bit, and I was able to. I was able to save it a time or two, but then the upon the third or fourth time, is would just freeze on that saving screen. It doesn't matter if its a different lot in my save or another save. It will freeze upon saving.

  • charmednmissouri  Does this happen in a new save as well?  Please test and let me know.  Please also list the size of your main save, which you can find in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves.

After posting this, I went and checked and it does NOT happen with a new folder. I moved the sims 4 folder and started a totally new game and it and several other things I was having occur where not happening. So it think it is my mods. I played for quite a while, mimicking things I had done when it was not letting me save, and it would not do it again. So I began putting a few mods back, such as hairs and some makeups and clothing by my favorite CC creator for that. No problems. Then I put in a few main mods, like MCCC, UI Cheats and very few other I really like having that have given me no problems in the past that are updated or compatible with the latest update. No problems. So I will take that CC and put it in one folder, and then start back with a few CC build items. If those work, I will try those gameplay mods one at a time, even though the creator says they are compatible or up to date.  But it is DEFINEATELY A CC PROBLEM.

Doing this stop all of my lag, my save problems and my sim seems to have some autonomy back. I think I am going to be very  cautious and leave the gameplay mods OUT unless they are "had to have mods".  But I had thought most all of the ones I had added were "had to have"  So I may just stop adding them if they are causing this much problems. And then I will be very cautious with a one by one add to the game. It will take longer, but maybe I can create folders of "must have mods" so I don't have to do thru so much digging.

If I find out the culprit mod, I will be back to update.

I am curious to now go back and see if it happens with that other folder with a new save and the same set up. I think that will be my next test.

Yes, it does happen with a new save in the same game. I pulled my new folder, put my old one back in, and yes, it did happen after creating a new save. And my save folder is 24Gb. 😮 I am going to be a little more discrete next time. I guess I don't need EVERYTHING I SEE in it, now do I? 😁
