I'm using obscurus unlocked sliders for kids and whenever i try to save the edits i make to my child sims the results doesn't save and it reverts back to vanilla. does anyone know if this a current bug or incompatibility? my game also doesn't save any preset body changes.
DoublePlusBon They can't be updated. The change has to be on EA's side. There's a good chance that won't happen: there was a game bug with their appearance before this.
Honesty, I'm not tech savy enough with mods to know anything about what or how the software did anything. I just know that what I could do in CAS before loading it into the software was different from what I could do after loading it into the software and updating whatever it caught as outdated.
I'm sorry. I 100% believe that if it's not possible to get these things working it's not possible. Which is why I'll probably go back and redo screenshots for my story. I can at least make things appear consistent with whatever I'm stuck with. I would also recommend the same thing to others.
From what I could see with blender and the morphmaker, I really don't feel like it's possible. Even if you get lucky enough to get something to the point that you can do things in CAS. Nothing changed in CAS will update in live mode anyways. You can change clothes. But, it's the rig. The physical shape of the sim that appears stuck.
I'm still concerned that the Vanilla preset bodies won't update either with mods deactivated. I genuinely think something is wrong, but I really can't say what.
Turned off my mods and loaded the same save I took the other screenshots from.
Entered the cheat CAS.FullEditMode then went in to Modify in CAS
No Body Types are selected.
These are what the 3 body types look like when selected in CAS.
I chose this body type because in Live Mode it should be the most noticeable change.
This is what live mode looks like afterward.
Compared to with mods active:
What I can do with the Obscurus Mod after updating it through the ts4 Morphmaker 4.5.2.0
The actual mod started working like this in CAS after I loaded it into the TS4 Morphmaker. It caught things that were outdated, I selected the option to update them, and it appears it was working in CAS like this. I didn't really do anything cause the program caught whatever it was. So, I can't really say.
If Modders can't update things, then I think I must've done something entirely by accident. So, I don't know. Couldn't say more than any of this. I'm so new to this it could have been a genuine fluke.
All I know is that the physical appearance of child sims that modified in CAS, whether it's a preset body type or something else, it's not updating in live mode. I still can't suggest a work around. My best suggestion is that child sims just won't be something you can change after they are created.
I wouldn't recommend it. Even I don't know what that could do. It might be for the best that we get used to things without sliders.
I want to continue my SimLit story to a conclusion, but these updates are making visual changes that are too jarring for me. I might restart my story so that my characters can at least look consistent.
My biggest concern about this bug might be that even the Vanilla presets that don't come from any mods won't update outside of CAS.
I'm going to create a new save and double check if anything mod related could be involved, but it's more than just sliders. Child Sims have 3 preset body types and they are not updating in live mode either with CAS.Fulleditmode active.
That's unfortunate. When I got a slider functional in CAS but it wouldn't change anything in live mode, I suspected that there was more going on.
Truth is, I can change the appearance of child sims in CAS using the Obscurus Slider after I updated it through the modding software, but none of the changes are updating in live mode. The screenshots I took are depicting what I got working. I guess the key word is that the Slider is Functional in CAS.
If my memory still holds true, the software detected things out of date and I updated it. Loaded the game and could make changes in CAS. Everything I do in CAS doesn't update in live mode, including the vanilla preset bodies.
As for the modding software I used, I used ts4 morphmaker 4.5.2.0 and simply loaded the mod into that software. The slider then worked in CAS as I think it appears it was intended.
If I restore my laptop to a date before the update and expansion pack was release will that ruin my game? Will I be able to play the game this way? Maybe then the kids and toddlers will go back to normal.
Child sliders aren't currently updatable by modders -- and won't be unless EA changes game code to make them possible again. Given that they seem to have been resolving game bugs with toddler and child appearance, I'm not anticipating that that's going to happen. You might just need to get used to not having them.
It’s possible to create a new save if you want to go into build mode and develop a build for when you get back to playing.
At least, that’s what I intend to do. While I wait for a fix, I have to build a Thrift Store for new SimLit chapters and a build for a MerMay challenge to share with the community. I do not think this bug should prevent doing builds in a separate save that you can transfer through the gallery. I do not believe lots from the gallery would bug an older save if they are transferred between saves that way.
Personally, I won’t be able to progress my actual gameplay for my story like this. While just a visual bug, inconsistent appearances of Sims could disrupt a reader’s immersion in my story. It definitely would mess with me. I have not saved over anything while testing things.
yea I haven't played since the update cause I don't want to save. All the children in the game turned skinny, there isn't any point editing all of them back to normal since it'll just revert..
I encountered this bug after a recent patch undid all the CAS modifications I did to my MerChildren with MCCC. It sent me on the path to find a slider cause I thought MCCC simply wasn't supporting what I found. I think I can honestly say this might be a bug with the game.
While I am not the creator of this mod, I was able to update this mod by running it through the updated mod software recommended by Sims 4 Studio. The software updated the slider and I dabbled in trying to create my own preset when it didn't work. Unfortunately, I don't think creating my own preset would change anything.
Here are screenshots of my testing.
The Latest Screenshot before the Recent Update that fixed the Pregnant Looking Child Sim bug.
What my twins looked like when I reloaded the game. Tested thing with Zephyr. The twins in my game share identical genetics making them 100% identical twins in game. Is helpful cause if I update the appearance of one, the other should be unchanged. I used Zephyr for the test.
I turned testingcheats true on and then went in to modify in CAS.
Zephyr appeared to have reverted in CAS as well.
I did my modifications using the Slider I updated. I admit the slider works much better than the MC CAS copy/paste route. I was never using Slider until I looked for alternatives to my methods. I intentionally try to keep my mods to a minimum.
Exited CAS. Zephyr returned to what he looked like before.
I went back into CAS and selected a Vanilla Preset from EA.
Exited the game and.... Zephyr reverted back.
Went back into CAS, and the EA preset changes still appeared in CAS.
Conclusion, this bug is functionally like the Love Stuck Bug with Gallery Sims. Changes made using EA files will remain in CAS but won't show in live mode. All routes with mods simply don't work or get saved in CAS. MC CAS Copy/Paste that I was originally using and functional sliders in CAS. No changes remain after returning to live mode. MC CAS does not do anything in Live Mode. Basically, you can't copy a sims appearance from another sim and paste it to a child.
How the Obscurus Slider I updated is currently working in game:
I wish I found a work around, but this has me stumped. Long after the time spent in Sims 4 Studio, Blender, and etc. I couldn't even figure out a work around with mods. My modding skill is extremely low right now though.
Normally, when I share something regarding a bug, I try to share something that might help.
I hate to say it but this persists into a new save and a new save with lovestruck disabled. I was hoping to do scenes of my twins in my next few chapters, but they effectively look like they gained weight now and won't look like they did in older scenes.
