Child Taking Out Trash

I had this issue the other way around. In my household only children could take out the trash while teen and older the option was greyed out saying I needed an outdoor can and replacing the can did not fix it. In the previous home the same family lived in I had no issue with adults taking out the trash, I'm unsure about teens though.
