I think it wouldn't be that hard to make a mod like that. My only concern is that it will be difficult to give a good probability setting. If the odds are too high then eventually everyone will become vampires and werewolves and if too low then you will hardly even know this mod exists. There is also the question of what exactly it should look like. How often should a conversion take place? Every day? Every 3 days? 7 days? Should you have a notification about it, or do you want to be surprised and discover it yourself?
Ideally it'd be something that could be set by the user, maybe with a default.
I fake story progression for births, marriages, and breakups using MCCC. Basically, I note how long a particular life stage lasts and what I think the odds should be of something happening during that life stage. Then I figure out how often I'll check per week. Then there's some math.
Basically, if I want there to be a 1% chance per week that a sim might become a vampire or werewolf, then starting as a teen (3 weeks) through young adulthood (4 weeks) adulthood (6 weeks) and elder (2 weeks), there's 15 weeks with a 99% chance each week that the sim
won't become an occult. 0.99^15 gives me roughly a lifetime chance of 86% that the sim will stay human. Which means 14% of sims would be vampires or werewolves. Which might be fine for some people.
But let's say I want only a 2% chance over the lifetime of the sim that they'll get turned. Then I need to figure the lifetime odds of not being turned (0.98) and calculate how to get there. I'm looking to solve x^15=0.98. Which means x is the 15th root of 0.98. That makes x=0.9986, or each week there's a 0.14% (0.0014) chance of the sim being turned.
Neither one is right, it's just a question of what's right for a person's playstyle.
