Crashing every time I load my family

Please help, I am currently playing with a family and each time I load them the family, the game crashes back to my windows screen.

I have removed all my mods and cc out onto my desktop.

It wont allow me to attach my last crash text, as it 'does not match its file extension and has been removed'

I have also attached my DXDiag.

Happy Holidays 🙂

Thanking you,

Jel

  • @jelenabray  Can you play a new save, or does that crash too?  What about a different household within the same save as your main family?  Please test both and let me know.  I'm not saying you need to abandon your current household, only that this will help narrow down the source of the issue.

Your dxdiag lists a number of Sims 4 crashes, all referencing a Windows resource that can be repaired.  But the problem could be the game itself, or something about your sims or save, rather than anything to do with Windows.  So it's easier to test first.

I played a different family in the same save number but in a recovered save file (hope that makes sense). I switched to my played household and the game crashed. My husband suggested my household might be corrupt, as I can play any of my other save files. I persisted with my plan to edit a sim from my played household (therefore loading the household into the save file) and it worked. I saved (new save file) and celebrated. I went back in after loading my mods and cc (I know my mods and cc are all the latest/updated as I did a massive clean out when my game started crashing), and re-edited my family (as they had no hair and no clothes) and the game crashed again after the cas loading screen. I went in again hoping I could at the least load them without hair and clothes and started modifying them in cas one at a time, saving each time I could edit one. Every now and then it would crash, but I’ve managed to edit and play my family as they were originally. Honestly at this point if it happens again, I might just start a new family as I know my game now works. I just really like my current family
I think this might have started after a load screen was doing an endless loop (like for 15 min) and I force shut down the program as it was going no where and heating my laptop up.
Thank you for replying to me, have a Happy Holiday 😊

@jelenabray Bit unsure but do you require further help ? Could you def pinpoint it to the family having issues ?
