I am having the same problem ever since last night when I updated my game with the latest patch. I'm glad im not the only one.

I think I have figured out a work around! I made a copy of all my sims files (eg mods/saves etc)- make sure you make a copy of everything you want to keep. Then I went to documents>electronic arts and deleted the whole sims 4 folder as one. Launch the game and it makes a new sims 4 folder. After, I put my mods and saves back in and it worked! Let me know if it works for you too! 🙂

I’m on console (Xbox). However, when this happens to me (happens quite a bit on console), it is typically the home lot. It will crash randomly, but usually entering and exiting the load screen. I used to save all my sims and lots, and plop them into a new game, but you lose all your inventory and relationships. I found out that its the home lot of whatever family I was playing.
Don’t turn on move objects cheat. Try to go on vacation if you can get there to the jungle one. If you can play fine without crashes, it’s the lot your house is on. This lot is making your game crash each time it tries to load. They probably increased the amount of ram or whatever techy word goes here to fix things, which is too big for the game itself. If you have a lot on your lot with your primary residence on it, it crashes the game. For me, it’s usually pictures or an dog stuck in spot in the house or something like that.
Usually, I will save the lot my house is on, delete the lot, place a generic small cottage type house without move objects on (I have one saved now that I use, but any from gallery will work), then place the new house. Game should be good. Just rebuild after that. 30x40 was working great with just normal decor prior to the patch. Now, they are crashing, especially in cottage living homes, which have more things, naturally. So, if you are on a big lot, just move the family. Go into build mode instead of clicking on a family to play to change the house or save stuff to family inventory. Then save the lot and delete the entire lot with the bulldozer. Try to play. If not, move to a smaller lot.
if you have pics or other collectibles you like to keep, get an empty lot, put it as generic or whatever the term now where no one can visit, buy it and place your stuff there. I made mine a store and didn’t put anything for sale. It’s legit called storage for Jones fam. The only downside is that you have to have one for each. I will turn it generic and then turn it back to retail and buy it once the matriarch passes away. You could also just copy it. And pass the stuff down, but it’s a pain to keep up with. After so many generations, it’s just a picture gallery now, and I keep stuff to go to the jungle with, so I don’t have to wait for a merchant when someone wants to go.
hope my book helps. Sorry, I’m tired and probably should have waited to reply, but know how frustrating it is. I’ll check back tomorrow and summarize or someone else feel free. 😂
