Dogs, cats, and MCCC

Sul sul, everyone.

I have MCCC set to pull Sims from my Gallery every time a townie needs to be generated: baristas, vendors, University students, waiters, etc.

I also have a mod that allows stray dogs and cats to appear in any world.

Does anyone know if MCCC will pull these stray animals from my Gallery if I have dogs and cats saved there?

Thanks, in advance!

  • I can't say for 100% certainty, but I think it does. I have MCCC pull most, but not all, townie spawns from my library, and it at least seems to include dogs and cats. I've seen a number of strays that have an appearance seemingly identical to some in my library, but I've never inspected them closely enough to be sure they really were. I don't have MCCC set to include original sims' names, so it's not always easy for me to notice unless the originals (including pets) had some kind distinguishing feature(s).
  • @VeeDub That sounds reasonable to me. I might create a really outlandish looking dog--one that would never be mistaken for any other creature the game could produce--and place it in my Gallery. Then, if it shows up, I'll have my answer.

I hope it will work that way. If it does, my daughter will then spend hours upon hours creating dogs and cats in CAS. <3
  • @MoonlightGraham  Excellent (and probably hilarious) idea! I'm even more curious myself now.
  • @VeeDub Thank you!

When my daughter discovered what I was thinking about, she immediately embraced the spirit of this project.
"Don't make only one cool dog," she suggested. "The more of them we have, the better our chances of finding one."
She was exactly right. We decided to make a whole household full of them.

    Spoiler
"A green dog will definitely stand out," Z decided. This is Avocado. Z added a message for any Sims who see him.

This little fellow is called Splatter. Or, is it Splotch? They are littermates, and they're identical twins.

"Let's make some cats, too," said Z. Meet Yellow Kitty. This photo doesn't really show off the cute blue heart Z added to his chest.

Here's a better look at Yellow Kitty's markings. But, wait...is that another green dog? Yes! That's Avocado's daughter, Guacamollie. You can almost make out the brown "seed" on her chest, can't you? (I shouldn't have taken these screenshots at dusk.)

And, finally, our last two feline friends. Fancy Kitty is wearing a top hat and a snappy blue sweater. Schmancy Kitty is sporting the grilled cheese headgear and a soft, pale blue top. They're both Good Kitties, and they have the markings to prove it.

We discovered we couldn't save a household to our Gallery unless it contains at least one human Sim.

So, our colorful collection of adoptable friends will be cared for by Abraham Lincoln. Because, why not?

By the time we were finished, both Z and I had tears running down our cheeks. Now it's time to see if MCCC summons any of our new doggos and kitties to a real save game.

This is brilliant in so many ways. Your daughter did indeed make a perfect point; the more you have at the ready, the more likely one or more of them will show up. Assuming that MCCC does draw from library pets to spawn, of course. I hope it does, if for no other reason than the pleasure for both of you from seeing all that creativity from your pool of colorful and undeniably unique pooches and padfoots in-game! :D
  • So far, it doesn't look like MCCC is selecting our "undeniably unique pooches and padfoots," as @VeeDub so eloquently described them.

First, we loaded up one of our existing saves. We sent a Sim to a Cat Café, figuring a feline might be more likely to spawn here than anywhere else. A kitty turned up fairly quickly, but it was a plain ol' purrer called, simply enough, Cat. We'd seen her before.

We figured the game might have already pre-selected all the strays it would ever need, so we decided ty try again, with a brand-new save. Our protagonist went for a walk around his Newcrest habitation, and spotted two stray cats.

One was Cat, whom we've met a few times before. Another was a pretty white kitty named Doodle. Yellow Kitty, Fancy Kitty, and Schmancy Kitty were nowhere to be seen.

Next, we sent our Sim upstairs to his computer, where he browsed the listings of adoptable cats and dogs. There, we saw a full cast of adorable pets looking for homes...but none of our creations were among the possible choices.

We haven't been searching long, so it's very possible we could still see one of our Gallery friends. We also haven't seen a stray dog yet. But, for now, it looks like we have a better chance of seeing Abraham Lincoln working as a yoga instructor or a paparazzi.
  • I have been trying to figure this out as well. I haven't been able to test this yet, but I came across someone yesterday saying that if you make a household with one adult, and the rest animals you want to be strays, then when you get to the town page to place them, you just hit the X to cancel placement, and the game supposedly then makes them homeless by default. Like I said, I haven't got onto my game to try it yet, but I thought I would pass it along.

BTW, I LOVE the idea of unique tester animals. I was just thinking I'd grab some tigers and pandas and such off the gallery, but your daughter's creations are soooo much better!
  • @Chaotic_Moira I'm going to try that with Honest Abe and Z's distinctive dogs and cats! Thanks for the suggestion.
