"Fill Empty Homes" Option not showing up on settings.

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.88.228.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of the packs and six kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Settings >>> Gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? I go into my settings and the "Fill empty homes" option doesn't exist.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the option to fill empty homes or not again.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I am missing the "Fill Empty Homes" option, I noticed it was gone shortly after the main menu redesign, but I didn't think anything of it until now since I have to use it. Everyone else still has this option so why is it gone from mine?

  • From what I understand, that option was removed in favor of an option for the Neighborhood Stories. I could be wrong, and hopefully someone will correct me if I am, but I believe that if you want that same sort of thing to happen now you need to enable the stories along with at least the Move In option. Just keep in mind that there seems to be separate options for My Households and Other Household, so you will want to enable things for Other Households.

If you aren't sure how to access the options I'm referring to, you'll first want to go into Manage Worlds. From there select Manage Households, then Other Households, and from there you can either select to enable the stories for all of the Other Households using the button in the upper right corner or you can pick and choose which individual households have them enabled. I hope that helps, even if just a little because I can be awful at trying to explain things lol.

  • @KyThePotato It's not a bug; the "Fill Empty Homes" feature will be integrated into the Neighborhood Stories system in the April 26, 2022 update. Please see the update announcement on the official website for more information.

You helped me a lot better than the first one that replied by actually explaining because I went to the site for the patch notes and it said nothing. Thank you!

You're welcome, just glad I could be helpful.

Oh and if you aren't familiar with the neighborhood stories, just a quick tip... you might want to disable the options for adoptions and having babies. From personal experience the game gets too carried away with those, and you can easily get households completely filled because of it. For example there are at least 3 households in my current save with the max amount of sims because I left those options on lol. You also probably don't want to enable the stories for your own households, especially if you don't want the stories system to interfere in anything you've done or might be trying to do.
