game is bugging out and not saving

My sims 4 game is bugging out and not saving. At times my game will not allow me to switch between sims in my active household, this also causes my game to freeze, every other sim besides the one I am stuck on will stop moving and so will the time. The sim that I am stuck on however will keep moving but nothing happens from the actions they are doing (like skill gain). When this situation occurs I try to save my game however my game does not allow that and instead leaves me stuck on the saving screen for multiple minutes, I have tried to wait this out but it seems never-ending. I am always forced to exit out and force quit the sims application which causes me to lose my progress. Any ideas on what to do??? I'm not sure if its any cc I'm using and this issue is fairly recent. My computer has recently also just been kicking me out of the game by itself and tells me it'll send a report to Apple, this hasnt happened in a few days but it could possibly be connected .. any help is appreciated! this is very frustrating
