Game Softlocking on Main Menu

Basically when ever I get pushed a full screen (BUY ME "Latest Expansion/Kit/Addon) advert the game, and I press Esc, click on the X, or even the Buy Now, the game will soft locks in that it is still running but you cannot interact with the main menu, the screen is slightly darker as though its not in focus because of these frustrating adverts (please lets just turn them off, this sort of nagging only does the opposite to me)

This isn't mod related as this has been an issue in the game going back 2-3 years perhaps longer, but only got worse when the ads became full screen annoyances. 

90% of the time launching the game then requires to kill the Sims 4 Task in Task Manger and relaunch.

    RustySP​ The only way to know if it's not caused by mods after a particular patch or after a new ad is appearing is to test with an empty mods folder. Please renamed Mods, delete localthumbcache, and try again.

    I'll add that several people have reported that removing TOOL Mod fixed this as of last week, although I haven't been able to reproduce the issue. (I might simply not be triggering the right ads, though.)
