@lucy2005b and @Blue6864 Please move the Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and test your saves. You don't need to save your progress; the point is to find out whether the saves run better.
If your main saves are still affected, try recovering a(nother) backup. Make sure to test either a different backup or a fresh copy of one you've already tried—the point is that this backup can't have been exposed to mods or custom content at all since this problem started happening.
Please also post a screenshot of the contents of the saves folder, as in, I'd like to see the save files themselves. Make sure their modified dates and file sizes are showing.
My game is working now (hopefully it stays that way), there was a random file in my mods folder. I deleted it and my game is no longer freezing. Thank you for helping me!
