Goaled Events Broken

Everything was fine until the latest update, which wouldn't even let me load up my game (that I own) until I updated. Seems like it broke the game for myself and many others. Goaled events, such as dinner party, engagement party, and wedding ceremony won't come up with the actual goals. I don't really care for the rewards but I still want my sim to do well socially. I only have CC downloaded through TSR.

Could you please check whether the issue still occurs if you play without mods?

As always make a backup of your game data before you start tweaking your game to have a fallback option if you don't like the result.

Try the following, to see whether your game works without mods:

    1. Move all your mods and CC other than MCCC somewhere safe (there's no need to delete them!) such as a folder on your desktop so you can easily find them again.
    2. Make sure to delete your localthumbcache.package file.
    3. Once done, start up your game and test to see if the error still appears.

Your game will probably work flawless without mods. If that's the case you have to go through your mods and find the culprit. The 50/50 search might be a good method for this task to get a result in a reasonable time.

    Attention:

All modded content will disappear from the game if you remove it, so if sims are wearing CC it will vanish while you're testing.

Because of this it's really important that you do not save the game while testing.

That way your CC will still be there when you bring your mods back into your game.

  • @ClaudiaSoup I've been having this same issue, with and without mods. I can get it to work if I don't plan the event in advance and just set it to start immediately, but any event planned in advance has no goals despite being planned with them previously.

@TaisceRayne When you test without mods, how are you doing it? If you haven't tried this, please do: Drag the whole Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test.

@luthienrising That's exactly what I've been doing, still no luck in getting the events to have goals if planned in advance.

@TaisceRayne Could you test in a fresh folder on a new save please? For the fresh folder, rename the whole The Sims 4 folder. When you start the game, it will be as if you're launching it for the first time. Test in a new save. You can put old files back in after.

@TaisceRayne Since there still could be a possible mod cause, when you copy mods back into the new folder, check for updates and test as you go. Watch out for duplicate files as well.

If you had the new bonus items from last month/earlier this month, also copy over the UserSetting.ini file.

@luthienrising Thank you so much for your help, seriously. Repairing my game files didn't work, despite not putting mods in, so I just moved my files over like you said, including my mods, and it was fine? Goals showing again on all events, planned-ahead or otherwise. I didn't even have to update any of my mods once I was done, so I have no idea what it might've been.

@TaisceRayne Sounds like it was just some user-folder file that needed refreshing in the end. Sometimes it's better just to not ask :D
