Holiday on Repeat

A while back, I created a holiday that was right after New Years Eve. It was New Years Day; a custom holiday. The holidays passed and was great, but then weird stuff started to happen. It took me a while to realize it, but it seemed like every day was New Years Day. It wouldn't show up on the calendar, but it would be an event that started every single day.

As soon as I realized this, I started clicking on the X to cancel the holiday. It would pop up again, with a blue square over the icon. I press the X again and it's gone for good... until I move to another lot, or switch households; then I have to cancel it multiple times again.

What's even more annoying is that it'll interrupt other holidays going on. Like if it's Love Day, New Years will pop up. And then when I go to cancel it, Love Day won't come back up for awhile.

I've tried removing all mods. Didn't work.

I've tried repairing my game. Didn't work.

Is anyone else having this problem?

  • @NiaraTiara I'm sorry to hear this is still going on in your game. There appears to be problems with how the MCCC Game Time Speed mod affects holidays that are already scheduled in a save file. Did you try changing the length of seasons in the game options as @DMDragonCT suggested in post #5?

If that does not work another last, last resort option would be to delete all four of the pre-made Seasonal holidays (Love Day, Harvestfest, Winterfest, New Year's Eve) from your calendar. If you have any custom holidays, go ahead and delete those too. If this fixes things, you can recreate the holidays later. Tbh- I usually change these in my game anyway because I use the long 28-day calendar and I don't like which days the pre-made holidays fall on.

    I hope this helps :D

  • @NiaraTiara Hey, someone told me it's supposed to be a mod update. Now, I'm not sure what to do since the same is happening to me, but instead of a custom holiday, it's supposed to be love day. I think we just need to know what mod it is

@8jkn The mod we were thinking that might be causing the problem is MC Command Center with changes in the Game_Time_Speed setting causing a bug with holidays that are already scheduled in a save file. I don't think any of this was proven though. If you are using MC Command Center, then you currently should be using version 7.0.0. Is this what you are looking for?

  • created an account just to let you know this exact thing happened to me too with winterfest!! it corrupted all of my saves so i'll have to start over ): hopefully this is something MCCC can fix in the future!!

@cryinggcats   If you haven't already it would be a good idea to bring your issue to the creator of the mentioned mod for confirmation of the bug, and if so, a potential fix.

Edit: This is the only bug report I can find that fits the theme: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-S-Calendar-Doesn-t-Change-with-Current-Season/m-p/6914575

If no mods are installed the issue is with the game, so a Me Too and some attention to that thread might make the Sims Team react to it.

There are of course other bug reports, here is the full list of tagged bug reports to look through for anyone with an interest and some time on their hands:
    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/READ-FIRST-Compiled-list-of-reported-Issues/m-p/3445209#M130065

Untagged yet to be determined 'open' bugs, are not on the list. Those will be found looking through the first pages of the bug report section. I can't find where notifications are posted about when the list is updated. But it is allowed to just send a bug report directly to the SimGurus on twitter for example.

@cryinggcats Are you using mods other than MCCC ? I believe this is a mod issue that keeps happening if you remove the mods as it's a save game corruption,

Do you have a backup from before the holiday occurred ?
  • This issue is happening with me now, anyone have any new ideas on how to fix the issue?

for me, the holiday is Bunny Day, I did not create this holiday it is a holiday already made and I also get the blue square after clicking the “x”

This is happening for me too except slightly differently. For me, it’s repeating the last holiday (my creation - Gnome Patrick Fools) anytime there is a new holiday on the calendar. This started when I downloaded the new expansion pack. I tested it by creating a new holiday to start on an empty day and sure enough, Gnome Patrick Fools again.

I have tried ending it early, playing it all the way through, waiting for the year to come around again and deleting it entirely etc etc. Nothing has worked.

The specified holiday activities are also stuck on in the action menus - regardless of whether there is a holiday scheduled or not.

Holidays work as expected in a new test save but I don’t want to forsake my save!!

I do not use any mods.

Hey there!  This thread is rather old, so we're closing it to avoid any necroposting. If you have more questions or want to keep the chat going, please start a new thread! That way, things stay neat and tidy, and everyone can join in.

    Thanks for your understanding.
