My announcement
EVERYONE PLEASE NOTE!
As of today, I am no longer posting any new releases to MTS. The 3.2.0 version will be the last version available here. All future versions will be available at https://deaderpoolmc.tumblr.com! Also, I will no longer be answering questions posted here in the comment section! I will answer questions for MCCC at this link. I will answer questions for MC Woohoo at this link.
MTS has taken the position of not allowing mod developers to ask for donations for the time and effort they spend on creating mods or supporting them, so I going elsewhere. It is a shame because I think this is a close-minded approach to the people that bring in your site's revenue, but it is what it is. I wish the site well going forward as it has been a good place, in the past, for people needing mods and developers of those mods to connect. I don't know if this will be the case going forward with the rules they are enforcing, but time will tell.
The links I had for promoting my Patreon donation page have been stealth edited from my signature and even from the description page of the mod multiple times now. I have received no PM's from any administrators trying to clarify WHY they did this or what policy was being violated.
I am assuming that they are trying to say the signature violates the policy that states, "While you may advertise your site, you may not link to sites which are basically just spam or get you something out of it (pay-per-click, win a free iPod, dragon eggs, etc.)". However, unlike the example given there, no one is FORCED to donate to me by going to Patreon. The examples given here are for sites that people make money just by people going to the sites...that is not the case for Patreon. I think this is a pretty weak enforcement of that rule, if that is the one they are basing this on.
I've scoured the rules looking for some similar reason for the description page to have been edited, because that was really what crossed the line for me. The only thing I found even vaguely similar to Patreon might be this rule: "No optional pay, pirated, or stolen content" But again, looking at the definition for that rule, there is nothing that would lead me to believe that giving people an OPTION to support me would cause a violation in any way. This rule is defined as "No content you must pay for. This means you cannot use items that are pay, donation, subscriber only, "special gift", etc. type content, anything accessible only when you pay money or subscribe", which again is not what was going on. People were still always freely downloading my mod here even when I started the Patreon site.
As I said, nobody talked to me about it prior to this, so I am only guessing here. My feeling is, if I was valuable as a mod developer to them, they would have tried to discuss this with me rather than just stealth editing my links with no communication. Not cool. This might have been something that could have been worked out but I seemed to be the only one that cared to.
Everyone please help me pass-along the news to anyone posting here that I am not going to be answering the comments here any longer. For that matter, MTS may delete this post and may delete the whole download at this point. I wanted to keep it around for the people that only come-by after updates, but if that happens, it happens and it'll only hurt the end-users. /shrug
