My game won't open and send me to the EA app and I think it's because of mods?

Whenever I try to open The Sims 4 through the EA app, the game's icon will bop up and down before opening the EA app and directing me back to the EA home screen.

The issue seems to be connected with my mods folder, but it no matter how much I try to downsize it (from 13,21 GB to 9,17 GB) it won't work - whenever I delete the mods it'll work, but the minute I add mods the issue starts once again and the amount of mods supported seems to dwindle - it went from supporting 13,21 GB to 12 GB to 10GB and now it won't work with the aforementioned 9,17 GB.

I have been spending the last few days raking through my mods seeing what I need, use, like, etc - but it just won't work? A lot of the mods are from Patreon creators I'm supporting so it's kind of bittersweet to have to delete a few of them, I have an extra folder not linked to the game where I have them since I plan on buying a PC with better specs and what-not. But until now, I'm kind of lost.

This is the only information I can think of giving?

CC wanted: 9,17

OG CC: 13,21 GB

*Note: Most of it is CC, not script mods; CAS and Furniture

Latest version of TS4 as of 4-11-24

Notebook Type: Macbook Air

Memory: 8 GB

Chip: Apple M1

MacOS: macOS Sequoia, Version 15.1

Storage: Macintosh HD

60,75 GB available of 245,11 GB

77,4 GB used by other Users

System Data: 1,69 GB

I'll be completely honesty, I'm completely technically illiterate which means I'm probably missing something that's super obvious, but I'm super lost at this point. If I'm accidentally doxxing myself, please tell me too - I cannot understate how bad I am at this whole tech thing.

  • @vynriri Please do this test:

    1. Drag your user (The Sims 4) from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop, or rename the folder.
    2. Run a Game Repair
    3. Start the game so it creates a fresh user folder
    4. Start a new save. Does it work?

If it worked, you can now start adding content back.

    1. Copy old save files out of the old Saves folder into the newly created one
    2. Start the game to see if it works.

If that works, you can start on your mods/CC

    1. Add back in batches. Make sure you don't add in content that's broken! see recently and previously broken in Broken/Updated Mods & CC
    2. Delete localthumbcache after testing a batch. See How to Use Mods and CC about keeping mods that rely on each other together in testing
    3. If this does NOT work AT ALL, even with any single file, check your other programs that could be interfering: https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Anti-Virus-blocking-User-Folder-Screenshots/td-p/9572695
