Neighborhood Stories-No babies

I really need help!

Since roughly the time that the Growing Together pack was released, I've noticed none of my Sims are having babies on their own (Neighborhood Stories). I'm receiving notices of accidental deaths and change of career etc but absolutely none of Sims falling pregnant/having babies. I thought perhaps it was due to the new game addition but there has since been an update and I still have the problem! I deleted my MODS folder and it's still not working. I then added my MODS folder back into the game and started a NEW GAME to see what would happen and there was a notice that a Sim was preparing for her baby. I double checked by going into her house and doing a pregnancy test and sure enough, she was pregnant, however, when I went back into my "normal" saved game (of which I've tried previously saved as well) no notices of pregnancies are happening again.

I've tried waiting several Sim days each time I've tried and in real time I've had this problem since maybe March.

I've set neighborhood stories to only "Have a baby" and maybe one other option, in order to just get notifications of those events.

I only download from TSR, of which I use the TSR manager and download lots from the Gallery.

I have tried removing the Tray contents and deleted the cache etc.

I don't understand or know what else to try. I'd REALLY appreciate any help or advice!!

  • @them1dn1ghtfa3ry Babies only occur to married couples to my knowledge (the pregnancy settings aren't working that well so it might only really happe to married Sims that are male/female properly). Do you have any of those ? Did you allow them for all your households or only some ? By default, NS are turned off for my households and turn on for other households so if you don't have any married couple in other households and not turned them back on for my households, that could be the reason.

When you removed your mods folder, how long did you play without ? Did you delete the localthumbcache file ? They did tune pregnancies down so it takes longer now then before.

@crinrict I did wonder if they tuned pregnancies down after some people complained it was going crazy.
I have several married Sims and I've ticked all the right boxes regarding NS for My Households and Other Households. I alowed it for only some of my households but there is definitely enough of them.
I did delete the localthumbcache file.
I played it for about a Sim week. It's so frustrating, as I think perhaps there's a file problem (I've randomly had the glitch where their arms go out and in and they abruptly stop a task) but deleting mods hasn't helped. I like it when they decided for themselves to have babies!
Thanks so much for your reply!! 🙂

@them1dn1ghtfa3ry Maybe try turning it off for everyone, then save the game, close and re-enter then re-apply. There have been reports of the SP not working properly (mostly though still being there when turned off but maybe something is stuck that you can re-set that way.

    Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? 100%n one f  the saves and not at all on an older saved game.
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Most of them except Famous, Werewolves and some of the stuff packs
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play regularly with Neighborhood Stories turned on for both "My Households" and "Other Households"

What happens when the bug occurs? The townies do everything NS is supposed to do, except expect babies or adopt babies/children
What do you expect to see? Notifications that Sims are "preparing for their baby to be born soon" and that Sims have adopted babies/children
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? o, I deleted everything and I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? t originally appeared after the giant update just before "Growing Together" was realised. I presumed it would be fixed with an update, it wasn't. I deleted CC etc and still no babies being born  through Neighborhood Stories or no Sims adopting children. I tried a new game and it was working so I very reluctantly (after posting on here and trying a bunch of other options) deleted my saved game, thinking it was n old Mod that was embedded. It still wasn't right. I recently decided to uninstall the whole game and reinstall. I've been taking it super slowly and it's been fine- Sims having babies trough NS and Sims adopting children. I saved that and continued remaking the Sims I'd lost with the uninstall (no CC this time). Suddenly I notice it's doing it again... No babies or adoptions. I played on fast forward for a  whole Sim week and none. I went back to an earlier save and it's working fine. I'm wondering if it's when I get over an amount of SIms... The game that isn't working has 48 playable Sims but I even moved some of them to the 'other" folder to see if that made a difference if I got it down to under 30. It didn't! The game that IS working has 28 playable SIms.  The only other thought I've had is whether it's related to the amount of time I've played that game and if it stops working after a certain length of time. It's incredibly frustrating because I deleted years worth of work- houses, families etc to reinstall and it's still doing it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
