Ever tried to reset your game folder? Here are instructions how to do:

Don't forget to backup your game data before you start - it's always a good idea.
Do you have a "lastException.txt" file in your game folder? It's difficult to read, but I've done it several times before to troubleshoot broken games. Sometimes there is hint in this file, what's going wrong.
