Optimized Sims Population and Scripts for My Device

Hi,

I need an advice on the optimized NPC population and also the limit of scripts in my game. Currently I'm running about 50 scripts and the sim population in saved file is about 670. I'm not sure whether my device is able to support it or not as I got answer from Co-pilot AI that the optimized sim population for my saved file with my current device should be kept lower than 200. That's a huge different compared to what I'm doing.

My game keeps interrupting after I played for half an hour or more. I tried to start a new game with the same script files, unfortunately the same issue happened but I could played more than 2 hours. May I know what is the optimized script files that my device is able to handle? I hereby provide the screenshot of my device for your reference. FYR, my Sims 4 data and mods folders are in Drive C whereas the steam SIms 4 game files are in Drive D - an external HDD.

  • @kennysoo2008 A few things. One, no AI software knows anything about Sims. They will all give very inaccurate answers -- in part because people post wrong stuff online, in part because AI doesn't know that info from 5 or 10 years ago about the game is outdated. So don't bother with that.

Two, how many script files your game can handle depends on your computer power, plus it will depend somewhat on what the mods do. It is, though, pretty common to start hitting issues above roughly 250 script files.

Three, if it's always a particular amount of time before your game crashes, it might not even be mod-related at all. You might have other issues. To confirm that it is mods at all, please try playing vanilla to see if it happens again: Please do a "vanilla" test: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, and try playing again. Use "Save As" to make that a test save separate from your regular one.

Re. population, it completely depends on your computer power how much your game can manage, but the symptom of that issue is almost always going to be load times.
