please help me change format of downloads

Hi, I'm terrible at using PC :( I was downloading cc today and changed some settings by accident and don't know how to change it back .
Whatever I download looks like that now, with little book icons, but they weren't there before, it looked different. All of my older cc files look like that now. How can I switch it back ?

Try removing the association in the way suggested in the link that I posted. Then download another cc package item, and the right icon then may be restored.

it's impossible to remove association per that instruction, because .package is not it that list ( I mean in "set default by app", as per those instructions you found for me)
I removed winrar from my computer again.
I went to " choose default apps by file type". I found .package in that list, but now winrar is gone ( uninstalled) and no other apps to choose from, it sending me to the microsoft store. If I'll download winrar back, it's going to show winrar and microsoft store to choose from again.

I'm guessing my only option is to go to the microsoft store and get another app to open .package files, but what app ?
  • There were several other methods in the link Rosemow provided, apart from that one involving the default apps thing, but if you don't want to be bothered by any of them then yes, the easiest method would be to simply uninstall winrar and replace it with another program that does the same thing. You could just type in zip in the store and pick one of the more highly rated apps. It honestly doesn't make much of a difference which.

Unfortunately once you select a default program for a file type, it's difficult to undo that.
  • The files will continue to work even though the icon has changed. It's completely fine, I promise you. The paper icon from before is just a placeholder. Windows assigns a program to auto-open files if you were to double-click. This has nothing to do with how the file is read and the game will continue to read those files. Apparently, Mac is set up the same way.

If you're not happy with winrar, 7-Zip is 100% free and it doesn't bug you about a never-ending trial. Grab the 64-bit version because I highly doubt you have a 32-bit OS.

It's not that I don't want to be bothered, I do, but I don't understand PC.
