[PROBABLY MOD RELATED] Error Code 503:523abb9d:c909527b

I am now noticing that each time I try to SAVE my game progress I get this Error Code(code above in title), The game failed to save. I'm spending hours in game play and not able to save anything I worked on or played with the game........so frustrating!!! So when I go to shut down my game I hit the exit game and save as I go, thinking my progress has been saved only to come back and find nothing had been saved and the Sim is on a vacant lot or standing outside the home as if they just moved in.

I have reset all my settings to default and still it didn't help. I have packs downloaded, 4 from Origins and the original store bought disc of the Sims 4 Limited Edition. I really don't want to lose the Sims I've created and would like to play them again at some point down the road. Can anyone help me figure out what I should do on this!

  • I too am receiving Error code 503:523abb9d:dab25892 whenever I try to save (or save as). I've tried started with a fresh save, and have removed all mods and CC from my game, and repaired the game in Origin. This problem began with today's new patch (3/31/22).  I've tried to attach my last exception file, but it says the content type does not match its file extension and has been removed. Thus, here is the text of the document itself, copied here:

@shelwass DId you delete the localthumbcache file after removing the mods ? Have you tried renaming your user folder ?
  • @crinrict Thanks for your reply! Yes, I did delete the cache. Renaming the user folder, no. How do I go about doing that?

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

    • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
    • Tray Folder
    • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
    • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
    • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
    • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
    • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

  • Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.84.197.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats and Dogs, City Living, Discover University, Get Famous, Get to Work, Get Together, Island Living, Seasons, Dine Out, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Spa Day, Bowling, Laundry Day, Tiny Living, & Vintage Glamour.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to save the game and a pop-up will say "The game failed to save. Error Code: 503:523abb9d:dab25892."
What happens when the bug occurs? The game does not save and you can't play without all your work getting lost.
What do you expect to see? The game actually saving.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I think it was a patch after/ for the wedding pack

I first noticed it when I was done building and the game didn't save. I took out all of my mods then tried again and it didn't save. I tried on a new save and it still didn't work (still without mods). I updated the game and repaired it about 3 times, still did not work. I looked it up and it said that the recent patch fixed it, but clearly it didn't work for me. Please help I have no idea what's wrong.

@Brooklyn06FLA Did you delete the localthumbcache file after removing your mods ?

I've merged your post with the main thread on the error.

Could you try the factory reset posted in post #36
