Question Regarding Non-Script Mods UPDATE

Obviously, I'm not a modder. But I do use a few mods. I installed the newly updated KS Memorable Events mod. I had already had a death previous to installing this mod, but I don't know if a non-script mod allows it to alter gameplay or not. What has happened is another family member died three days after the first one did. Both grandfathers. Today when I opened that game save my Sims got notified that the first grandfather's wife passed away. It was one Sim-week from her husband's passing. Am I just having some really bad luck, or could this mod, somehow be responsible?

ETA: I just learned that there has been a call to remove this mod. KS has discovered it's causing some problems. I will remove it, pronto and then roll back a game save to a point before the second grandfather and the one grandmother pass away! Whew!
