Re: CURRENT ISSUE: many .package mods + cc not loading

My game is completely ruined after this new update. No pop ups. Sims cant shower or basically do anything. My mods and cc do not work after deleting all and reinstalling. Im glad its not only my game thats been messed up. 

Everything is gone in mine and I can't even play.  I click on this and nothing happens no prompts. Just me clicking at things hoping for the best only to be continually disappointed. Such a joke. Wish I would have never done the update.

My games completely ruined too. My mods and cc wont work and I cant even interact with my characters or see there needs. This new update is trash. I've Uninstaller and re installed. My stuff and its still broken. Im utterly pissed.

Same for me.  All of my CAS CC is gone, bald sims galore and glitchy pie menus.  It's beyond disappointing when you invent alot of time and money.  It seems EA is fully adopting the model of move fast and break things, mainly focusing on the break things. 

I have been trying to wrap my head around what on earth happened to my game! I have repaired it, made sure I have all packs installed, even uninstalled the whole game and saved my "Mods" and "Tray" folders to transfer it all right back to the new installed game. NOTHING! I decided to read some of the posts on here and realized it was the new Marketplace update today! I wish I hadn't update like many of you... This is bad, we've all worked so hard on our games for this update to wipe it clean! I also can't command my Sim to do anything at all :(

I'm wondering if there's enough here to start a class action lawsuit.  I mean... the issue with CC is one thing.  The fact that it forces an update, even if updates are off, and doesn't let you play offline is BS.  You go offline and you get an error message that you need to log in again.  It's beyond suspicious.  We've paid for these games... they don't get to decide that we can only play them online. 

I work for a law firm.  I'm going to look into it.

This isn't just a mod issue... First off... I thought, okay... I can start a new play... deleted the cache, log and onlinethumbnailcache... started a brand new game, with mods turned off.   You can't even click on other characters to talk to them... most of the items are not clickable.   EA needs to write an apology,  close their cash grab store and push back out the older version before today's dumpster fire.   But they will never do that, this cash grab is too important to them.... I am looking right now into Inzoi... after buy literally every pack they have ever made... I think I am closing the book on Sims 4 and moreover on EA... they have done us dirty for the last time! 

No literally, because wth do you mean that I can't do **bleep** with my sims at all, they should  give us all an apology and idk give us a code to get like a free kit or something because this is **bleep**, they are so money hungry that they literally are making people leave and not look back, with the amount of money and bs people including myself, have put up with because of money hungry pieces of **bleep** that run sims 4, like if you are going to update it, you mine as well put the things we have been asking for in the updates and maybe people wouldnt be so pissed, but thats not the case at all.

I agree with that. We should have the option to choose whether we want updates or not

They're about one more problem from losing a lot of players because I need my CC

That's kind of rude.  I understand how this works. I understand that we buy licenses to the game, but we still don't really own the game.  I get it.  That doesn't mean there's not a way.  And you're right - I'm not a lawyer.  I'm a specialist who works with electronic evidence.  My point is that I have many good lawyers easily accessible to me to talk about this.

I apologize if I was abrupt, but non-lawyers pretending to lawyer shouldn't be doing that. Get a tighter rein on your horses, and if you get offended for getting called out for such obvious nonsense, grip them tighter still.

First of all, no, it's not, because your paid for DLC would be perfectly playable if you just deleted all your mods and played vanilla. Mods are always at your own risk, that's universal and right in the terms you agreed to. Second, even if it were broken vanilla, it still wouldn't be actionable, because updates followed by all the headaches followed by all the fixes that attend to updates are all part of the normal course of business for software, and even if they weren't, again, you agreed to them in the terms.

Not everything that mildly inconveniences you is illegal. Get a grip.

Hey, I'm a lawyer. I'm always happy to find a reason to sue someone if it will make me a buck. But any lawyer worth his salt would never think about suing a software company because some users can't use their program for a few hours because it's no longer compatible with the unofficial modifications they've made to it. Not only would they lose the case, but they'd be sanctioned by the judge for even bringing it into the courtroom to begin with.

You don't like that EA messed up the game? Easy solution: delete all your CC and play to your heart's content. That doesn't work for you? You just have to wait until they fix their mistake.

TheHappyGoat​ Are YOU a lawyer? Because I’d recommend you take a closer look at the EA terms of service. It explicitly gives consumers the right to arbitration, which IS a legal action.

Arbitration isn't something they gave you. It's something they took away. The whole purpose of arbitration is to avoid costly civil trials, and most attractively to companies like EA that make you sign terms with arbitration clauses, they explicitly disallow class action lawsuits. There's no such thing as a class action arbitration.

The fact that so many people think that being mildly inconvenienced for a few days is so bad that they should be able to initiate legal proceedings against the party that inconvenienced them is one of the reasons this country is going down the tubes.

What are you getting out of this debate?

TheHappyGoat​ I never said the issue could/would merit a class action. I said it was actionable. I also said that would only apply to EA-owned DLC, which many users in this thread have reported to currently being broken. It’s not about the ethics of initiating legal proceedings for “minor inconveniences.” It’s the principle that consumers have protections when it comes to the things they  spend their money on. I think the undermining of that principle is why our country is going down the tubes.

Yeah, I mean, if they bricked the entire game? Sure, that would be something. But it's just a bug from an update, and we haven't yet even given them reasonable time to fix it. Like I said way at the beginning, I get why people are frustrated. I would be, too. I fell for that update disguised as "incoming content" or whatever once. I was pretty mad. But all of us on this forum are playing a game that we voluntarily chose to modify, which basically voids any warranty, implied or otherwise, that we might have had. So the best thing we can do is just take a deep breath, relax, and wait for the fix.

Its extremely upsetting that we invest this much money, HUNDREDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, into a game and they don't have the consideration to test these updates before hand so that ALL players have a stable game! If modding capability is an advertised feature they need to make sure it works just lie the rest of the game. Also no ETA after all this time is beyond unacceptable! Can't wait for Inzoi to continue development.
