Re: Edited cc on Sims4Studio won't show

@Georganneb

Just a guess.  When you make CAS CC with S4S, there are 2 ways to do it.  1 - a recolor that is attached to the base item used which you find by clicking on new swatch on the item in CAS and 2 - creating a standalone recolor that is not attached to the base item and displays as a separate item in CAS.  The 1st way adds a new swatch to the original file and the 2nd does not, it creates a new separate file with only the recolor in it.  Both use the same mesh.  From what you've said, I'm not sure what you are trying to do though.  Do you want your recolor to be a swatch on the original or do you want it as a standalone.  When I've created recolors, I've always opted to make them as standalones, mainly so I can find my creations easily later on.

Hope this helps.

  • @CGrant56 Hello, I am trying to make it a stand alone, so I can find it easier like you said. Thing is my studio library doesn't have the custom cc on (I can't find out how to get it on there) so to make it I am just double clicking the individual package file which then opens it up on studio before I edit it, then I go to save as

    The way I create things is to use the My CC option to find the base object I want to use.  Once I find it, I copy it to the S4S working folder.  I'm on PC, so my path is Documents>Sims4Studio>Projects>(Project Name).  When I copy a CC file there, I  create a separate folder for each project within the Projects folder and the project name in the path is just whatever I decide to name what I am working on.

    You can't edit anything really in the My CC section.  It has to be in the Projects folder for you to do that to create either a new swatch for an existing item or a new standalone.  What it sounds like from what you have said, is that you are not putting the base file in the projects folder so you can't find it to use for a new creation.  The thing about using the project folder is that you are working on a file that is not in the game, it's a copy.  Clicking directly on the file in your mods folder means that you are using the original file that is in your mods folder.

    Edit:  Btw, the edited file that you saved will be found in the projects folder once you are done.  You will need to either more or copy it to your mods folder so that it will show up in the game.  I'm guessing but the missing files you mentioned are mostly in the S4S projects folder so you should look there for them.

    Hope this helps.

  • @CGrant56 Thanks for your help! I figured it out though, I had to put the CC I was editing into the mods folder in studio in order to create it as a stand alone. Thank you for your replies though!
