Re: how to download NEW cc to hard drive

@bbjerka   Hi!  To clarify, you created a symbolic link so that you could run TS4 from an external hard drive.  Is that correct?  If so, please make sure that you moved your user folder and not your game data folder.  The user folder is in your Documents folder and the game data folders are in your Program Files folder.  As far as I know, the game data must remain on your hard drive.

The reason I mention this is that when you moved the TS4 folder to the new location in the external drive, your mods folder should have been included.  For example, the original location would be on your hard drive.  For PC it should be something like (user name or This PC) / Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4  with a link to possibly E:\The Sims 4 ... something like that.  If you're not sure, please provide some screen grabs of your folders and include the file path.

If you're sure that you created a symbolic link to your user folder then, as I mentioned, the Mods folder is contained within the TS4 folder and should have moved with it.  However, if you're not seeing them and want to add Mods/CC to your game, then you will need to drag them to the Mods folder in the linked folder on your external hard drive.  So if your linked location is E:\The Sims 4  then you would drag any new (or existing files) into the Mods folder within that linked folder.

Hope this helps!  Please come back with an update on whether you were able to fix it or not or if you have any other questions.

@bbjerka   Are the files zipped?  If the files are .zip when you download them, you'll have to extract the files and put the .package and/or .script files in the Mods folder.

@bbjerka    Okay.  Please share screen grabs of your folders that include the file path; one grab of your Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder on your computer's hard drive; one of your TS4 folder on your external hard drive; and one of your Mods folder on your external hard drive.  They should look something like the below.

This is my TS4 user folder with file path.

This is my Mods folder with file path.

@bbjerka   Yes.  Thank you!  It looks like you have created a link and added your mods to the Steam game files folder.   The game will only recognize what is in your user folder; Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4.  So, I suggest you start over and follow the exact steps in this symbolic link guide created by AHQ Hero crinrict.

Please come back and update whether or not this worked for you.

@bbjerka   Apologies for the delay.  I just saw your reply.  :-(   Looking at your image, I see some discrepancies.  The line you need to add into the command prompt (as well as the text file) is missing some characters.

There should be a   /  character next to the J ...  MKLINK /J

There should be a  \  character between each folder ... %UserProfile%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" "E:\The Sims 4"  (or whatever path matches the location you've set up)

Please make these corrections and come back to update if it worked or not.
