Re: Sims 4 Ladder Glitch

@SmileyFaceGirl04
Hi there
From the image, it looks like there is a light, directly above the ladder, that is in the way. Please try changing the position of the electric light.
If the problem still persists, it would be helpful if you could attach an image in actual live mode that shows the behavior after instructing the sim to use the ladder.
Thank you in advance.

    Hi
    Unfortunately, I was unable to watch from that link.
    Can you attach a screenshot? Or can you share the room in the gallery?
    If you attach a screenshot, you can post it via the Reply button.
    If you want to share it in the gallery, please let me know via DM. If you have renamed the room, please include that name, and if the ID you uploaded to the gallery is different from the ID you used in your post here, please include that ID as well.
    Just to be sure, let me ask you first, do you use CC around that ladder?

    Thank you so much for all your help. And no I have no cc ladder or any cc. The only thing in the room is the platform and base game ladder. And here is a different link to the video. Hopeful this link works.

    @SmileyFaceGirl04 I have tested in my game and found that to have the basegame ladder place with 8 rungs this is the height the platform needs to be. I found that this only works in a room with medium or tall height walls. With either medium or tall height walls my test Sim was able to use the ladder to climb to the platform. Have you tested without your Mods and localthumbcache.package file? Directions in spoiler tag:

    Spoiler
    Try moving the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue, then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.

  • @SheriGRI have tried without the Mods and localthumbcache.package file and it still doesn't work. For me this is only a problem in the city living 910 Medina Studios apartment which the walls height can't change in. I have also tried restarting the game, repairing the game, uninstalling and re installing the game and starting a new game file and nothing works.

    @SmileyFaceGirl04

    I tested it in the next room, 930 Medina Studios.
    I will tell you from the results. It is possible to move to the room on the steps. Instead of clicking on the ladder, you can click on the floor of the step room and give the Go Here instruction to climb the ladder. However, it behaves very strangely.
    Here are my thoughts.
    Since this is a room in an apartment, it is not possible to go up to the upper floor by stairs or ladders. I think that the perception of the ladder is not able to cope with the inconsistency, because it only allows the use of stairs and ladders by creating a room with steps.
    I assume that the original ground position of the ladder and floor is set under the floor of the apartment, which causes strange behavior when climbing the ladder.
    If you move them away from the ladder and into a stepped room, they may not use the ladder, but instead dive into the stepped area and warp upwards.
    You can use the step room, but it will always behave strangely.
    What you do with it is up to you, but we hope you enjoy City Living's content.

    This is not a Residential Lot, but a room in an apartment. Thank you for your help.

    @Pick-a-boo_doo I apologize... you are correct, the behavior of the platform and latter is different in the apartment. Your description clarified for me and triggered my memory. I was able to reproduce what you were describing as follows:

    @SmileyFaceGirl04, when I went into the apartment you mentioned and built a platform against the wall in the manner you did, I found also (as @Pick-a-boo_doo  mentioned) that the Sim would go up the ladder if I clicked 'go here' on the platform (which is also what I did in my test earlier today), but if I clicked the ladder and told her to climb up, she stood off to the side as your Sim did in the video - no blocked thought, but she did not climb.

    However, I then put something enticing up on the platform (what Sim doesn't want to play the game pad any time, any way possible?), and then she started to climb autonomously, but first climbed into the floor (down) then climbed up after climbing down a few steps.

    So, I tried an experiment. I made a platform that did not touch the wall on any side (keep at least one tile of space between the platform and the wall.) Then the Sim had no issue, and did not climb in any glitchy way.

    I remember experimenting when platforms first came out and seeing this issue in a home. Ever since then I have always made sure my platforms do not touch a wall. I also carefully play-test when I build with platforms to see if there is any issue for Sim use. Hope this helps.

    @SheriGR

    Hi

    Please don't worry about it.
    Rather, thank you for your further validation and suggestions.
    The behavior of climbing the ladder was exactly as you described. (I recorded it, but have no way of presenting it.)
    I was not playing when the step floor was introduced, so this new information was very helpful.
    Thank you again.

    @SmileyFaceGirl04

    As I mentioned in my previous post, it is your decision how to make the room. Now that you have provided new information, I think you have more options.
    I hope you enjoy playing the game.
