I've had this happen to my neighbors when my machine bluescreened while saving (ouch) and also it LOOKED like the same thing had happened in a new save, but if I went into build mode my house was still there (???). See if the houses are in build mode.
No…. Build mode just shows me my big, empty lot. If I try to visit a neighbor, same thing! They’ll just be standing there with no house or belongings when I get there. This sucks!

@JenZeinerThis is EXACTLY what happened to me when my computer bluescreened mid-save.
Try rolling back to a previous save with the recovery feature. If it's not there, you might have to load the household and house into a brand new save and keep playing that way. ☹️
I didn’t mention that all of my long-time prior saves are gone. Once I loaded Paranormal, I had to re-install the game since it turns out my computer isn’t compatible with that pack. But, now that I re-installed it, I can’t load any houses in my games. Install it again?

It stores houses in the individual save files and your library. If brand new save files are generated with no houses for your neighbors, yes, something is horribly wrong with your game. ☹️ If your existing saves have no houses but new saves do, the saves are damaged/corrupted but the game itself is probably okay.
