Reshade Alternatives with Photo Editing?

~Good morning!
I have been getting more and more interested in using a reshade mod, as some pictures and videos look so much more realistic.
Im afraid my laptop wont be able to handle it even though its new, as Ive heard it really slows things up.

I was curious if anyone had experimented with alternatives such as photo editing- (contrast and brightening settings) to get photos and such looking more like reshaded material.
Ive been trying to experiement but they still just dont come out the same.

Wondering if anyone has experimented and would share what settings works for them!

It's not clear what photo editing program you're using, but I would suggest adjusting temperature, exposure/brightness, curves/levels and clarity/texture.

Also, ReShade may not be that intense. What are your laptop specs?
  • I have a whole guide on editing screenshots without ReShade/GShade here that might be helpful? Possibly? Also, it might be worth looking into GShade since I find it's easier on my laptop then ReShade was. I swapped from ReShade for that reason.

Before I could use it, I used to just edit brightness/contrast, and add a light colour overlay to outdoor pictures to brighten them up a bit for all the 'regular' screenshots which didn't need additional effects.

Hello, well I do have an update since I've made this post...I was able to make Reshade work for me! For some reason there was one preset SMAA that, when clicked would make my game crash. I did try Gshade initially but my game crashed with that one no matter what I did. So now I do successfully have reshade!
And before this, yes I was just playing around with a basic photo editor with temperature,,etc

Thank you for the feedback everyone : )

I'm new to most of this but attempted both reshade and gshade recently and my game would always end up crashing with both. Sometimes it would stay up for a little then would crash. I uninstalled both downloads and repaired my game and it's seemed to work fine. But I really want to use one of them lol. Any suggestions?

I tried Reshade initially - it worked, and then I used a preset with SMAA in it and it made my game crash every time I checked it. (I didnt know it at the time)
So I uninstalled it and tried downloading older versions 5.0, 4.0 here, as recommended from someone on youtube if your game is crashing.
    https://reshade.me/forum/general-discussion/294-reshade-repository

    But NONE of them worked.

Then I switched to Gshade and my game literally crashed no matter what i did.
    {I have a brand new laptop Windows 11 so doubted it was my equipment- so gave up that}

Then, I think luck would have it....I tried Reshade one more time, downloaded the NEWEST 6.0 or 6.1 version again,
    And it worked.

Then when it would crash I realized it was because I was checking SMAA on the list .... So i just don't use or click that one at all.
Also some corrupt presets you download will make your game freeze, crash or not start.

So if I download one - I do one at a time - so I can trace which don't work for me..

I hope this helps. FYI I spent 4+ hours trying to get it to work and figure it out, seems to be a common thing that its giving people problems unfortunately.
