Sims 4 clothes not showing up on Sims

For some reason, all of them are naked. But when I go to Create A Sim, the CC is there in the columns and I can still customize them and make new characters, but the outfits that I've already created for them aren't there anymore. So I started replacing the Sims with the version in my Library and their CC did show up, but only the first outfit. In all of the other outfits, they are naked even though I've created outfits for all of them. I don't know why this is happening. I've taken out my script mods and the game is updated. The CC shows up at the start, but doesn't show up on the Sims in actual gameplay. Please helppp!!

  • We don't have and never have had any mods or CC but this new update is making our clothes show up as see-through with nakedness underneath, including like actual pubic hair areas under a wedding dress. This is quite disturbing since I play this game really often with my 8 year old.

Are the meshes for the Sims this detailed now? I remember in the old Games (Sims 1) if one modified the game to unblur a nude sim they didn't have any body features beyond a Barbie or mannequin.

It makes me wonder if this is a deliberate troll by someone within the company since this was the update that had caused scandals in other countries due to the gender bending and lgbtq/ sex related stuff already.

As I said, I've played the game since the first edition and pretty well always have almost every expansion and such and I'm just more and more disappointed in the company.

  • @SiSiSiennaaa  Does this happen if you reassign the custom content after you've removed all your script mods?  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.  Please also test with new cc, some items specifically listed as compatible with the newest patch (1.87).

@jwolhart  Sims 4 sims are still Barbie and Ken underneath their clothing.  It sounds like you do have mods or custom content somewhere, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing this issue.  Please move the entire Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and test.  You may need to change affected sims' outfits to revert them to normal.

I made a mistake there, my bad. They aren't naked, but none of their clothes are showing up. It's just their underwear. All of my sims outfits are gone for some reason... Sorry for the confusion. @jwolhart @puzzlezaddict The methods were unfortunately unsuccessful and they are still in their underwear.

@SiSiSiennaaa  So even if you give your sims new cc outfits, they still show up in their underwear?  And is this in-game or just in the thumbnails you see when loading a save or hovering over a house?  Please try having the sims themselves spin into outfits a few times just to see whether the issue corrects itself.  If it doesn't, try giving them non-cc outfits instead and let me know how it goes.

If that doesn't help either, please move your entire Mods folder to the desktop, delete localthumbcache.package, and give your sims non-cc outfits.  You can use "save as" to rename the save so the original is unaffected.  If that works, add a few cc items to the new Mods folder, but no mods, and see whether your sims can wear those items.

  • Did you look for any meshes that might be required for them to appear? Do you have CC enabled in your preferences? Did you unzip them from any.rar or.zip files and then place the package files in your My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods at this site?

Could you give me an example of a piece of CC you downloaded (the name of it) and where you put it? So I can check to see if it appears in my game or if something is missing? 🙂

You can change their outfits into outfits with CC and they will appear in-game. My problem is that my outfits that have CC and Non-CC are no longer there in their outfits slot. What used to be there is longer and they are just in their underwear. I can customize them into a new outfit, but my old outfits aren't appearing and they're just in underwear. I can put them back into their original outfit by customizing them again, but I don't want to have to customize alll my characters again. With one of my households, I tried replacing them with their version in My Library. It only worked for the first outfit. In the other outfits, they are all in their underwear. This is in-game and when you hover over households.

@SiSiSiennaaa  Just as an experiment, take a look at your Library sims in a new Sims 4 folder.  Move the entire existing folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, launch the game once to spawn a clean folder, and copy over the Tray folder from your old Sims 4 folder.  Copy over the cc the Library sims are wearing as well, but only those items, or a subset of those items.  The point isn't to fix every outfit for every sim, just to see if any of the broken outfits look normal again, so don't worry about getting every single cc item.

If this works, you can try loading a backup save in the new Sims 4 folder, again with the minimum cc necessary to test.  If it helps, don't save your progress; just quit and keep adding more cc until the sims' outfits are all fine again.  If they reappear in their underwear, you'll know that something you just added is a problem, and you can sort through that last batch of items until you find the culprit.  Here's how to load a backup save; use the manual method and copy the backup to the new Sims 4 folder.

If the Library sims are still in their underwear, other than their everyday outfits, it sounds like some of your cc is broken, and unfortunately the only thing you can do is re-dress them in items that are currently working.
