Sims 4 crashing on macboook air 2024

I've been trying to get my game to run properly but I'm not quite sure what could be the problem. When I try to resume a household it crashes. If it does open and try to travel with the household it crashes sometimes but not as often even when I'm in CAS it would just completely exit out the game. Ive done 50\50 mods method, uninstalled the sims and reinstalled it, deleted origin then redownloaded it, deleted all my saved files and even deleted my entire sims 4 folder to generate new ones. My game was working completely fine once I got rid of all my saved files the first time but now its back to crashing.

@tattletalestarng Delete localthumbcache - you might be able to clear some glitches. It's also important to do that anytime you remove or replace a Mods folder file. Then see how it goes.

@tattletalestarng Anytime you have to delete localthumbcache, the game will take longer to load pages like Manage Households because it has to regenerate the images in them.

If Sims 4 itself is taking a long time to start, that's generally a function of your computer + how much is in the Mods folder overall. You can speed the process up via Options > Other and telling the game not to make the list of mods/CC when it starts.

If a save is taking a long time to start but does eventually load, that's generally because of the number of Sims and relationships etc. etc. in it. Bigger save file = longer load time.

  • After loading the game up with my mods my most recent save file is not showing up in the game. I see it in my saves folder yet it is not in my game. What could have caused this?

  • I'm currently recovering the save but does this mean my game will go back to loading slowly? It was loading fast with no crashes even with all the mods before or should I make this a separate question?

@tattletalestarng Slow Sims 4 startup isn't save-file related; if you put all your (working) mods back and the game starts slowly, you can change your startup options to see if that's enough to fix it, or you can remove mods/CC you don't actually use. Slow loading of a specific save is about what's in that save.

  • I've gotten my save file back and now It only appears to crash while trying to enter build mode but not all the time. What happens is if I try to build on a lot, it will take some time to load and then I'm able to build or it will take some time to load, and then it crashes. The game itself already takes over 20 minutes to load now like before. I've kept the same loacalthumbcache.package hoping that would help with the loading issue.

  • Thank you for helping with my initial question it seems to be a separate problem with my game currently.
