Sims 4 crashing with CC/Mods

I have a similar problem to this. I'm a newbie Simmer and as soon as I downloaded cc's, I cannot re-open sims back at all. I've tried EVERYTHING and I only got the game today!!!

I've split your post as the issue is not related to the thread you originally posted in and moving it to the General Discussion & Feedback forum.

CC/Mods have to be unzipped before putting in the Mods folder. They have to be Sims 4 compatible and end in .package or .ts4script. Some Mods can conflict with others.

To test the CC/Mods, move out your Mods folder to the desktop and trash the localthumbcache.package file. Start the game to check it will load then quit without saving. Move your CC back in in batches, loading the game after each batch to see if it still works. When it stops working you know there is dodgy CC in that last batch. Move out that batch and test each piece one by one until your game stops working again. It's laborious but the only way to check all your CC.

  • Dag Dag Simmers,

Happy New Years! Hope you guys are all doing well!

I have not been able to play sims 4 for many months now due to an annoying issue I keep having. Everytime I click on the ''menu'' option (e.g. changing outfits, planning events and cooking), the game freezes COMPLETELY! I have tried to repair the game, uninstall and re-install the game, drag 'The Sims 4' folder out onto my desktop and then re-launched the game so I have a NEW 'The Sims 4' folder - but, no progress.

I tried to remove the CC folder out of the game and the game begins to function normally and well. However, as soon as I put the CC folder back into the game, it begins to freeze again as I press the ''menu'' option.

So my guess is, perhaps I have a few broken CC, hence why the game is freezing??

PLEASE HELP! I miss playing Sims ☹️

P.s. I have attached a pic so you guys can see how the game freezes for me.

@GiardiniDiMarzo Thank you for your reply! I managed to fix it using the 50/50 method. It appears that one of the mods I had downloaded was broken/corrupt. Thank GOD it works perfectly now! I was so worried ☹️ Have a great day! <3
