sims 4 files corrupted, but repairing gives error
Hi,
I just wanted to start the game, however I get an system error message stating some files are missing. The EA app then gives an error saying files are corrupted and the game needs to be prepared. No biggie, or so I thought. Repairing the game doesn't work, as the EA app gives yet another error message saying: "There's a problem with your security permissions. We couldn't access your system resources. Make sure your security permissions are configured correctly, and try again". I've tried a few things already:
- Running EA app as administrator
- Running windows prompt as administrator and then getting the game to repair (someone on a reddit thread from a while ago suggested this)
- Give security permissions to the electronic arts and EA folders in documents and program files
- Removed the mods folder (I never installed any mods on this laptop so I'm kind of confused how 1 random file got in there)
Unfortunately none of this worked and I'm still getting these error messages. I'm a little sus of another folder named "content" with also just one file in it, however I have absolutely zero knowledge about what files / folders are or aren't supposed to be there. The game was running just fine the last time I played it (2 days ago). I'm kind of wondering if this has anything to do with these new rewards you get by starting the game?
Anyways, if anyone can think of a solution or workaround, it would be greatly appreciated as I can't play right now. Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Thanks for helping out. Of course I continued with trying to get things to work, and as it turns out my antivirus programme was the culprit. Had issues with this specific one with other things as well so that might help a few people running into launching problems as well.
