I think I figured out a way to avoid this problem. What you do is you go into manage worlds and then click the household that you want to edit and then, once you're done editing, it will allow you to click out. But, after it allows you to, you can see your household's menu, click out of that and click "ESC" and it has the main menu pop up and go and click "Save" and it will save your progress.
