sims 4 will not launch after july 2024 update!!!

sims 4 will not launch after july 2024 update

i updated my game yesterday, and my game would not launch. as soon as i click play the sims just doesnt open and i have to force quit.

i took out my mods and it works, i tested one by one for every mod causing the issue and it still would not launch.

i decided to start my mods folder from scratch and my game launched!! i downloaded files from my favourite creators and tested the game 5+ times and it was working smoothly.

i went to sleep with plans to keep rebuilding my cc today.

today i'm facing the same issue as last night, game wont start unless i take out my cc.

there is absolutely no pattern to this, my game launched last night with files in it that will not launch with today.

i have tested every possible cc file and it just simply will not work, although + basemental work fine and my game launches with those mods only...

i have reinstalled, repaired x10000. i have tried absolutely everything, the game just does not want to let me play with cc.

my game is completely unplayable without mods (i cant play without mods) and i'm very upset

  • @mollynbella Please do this test:

    1. Make sure that your antivirus software is permitting access to the user folder
    2. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
    3. Launch Sims 4 and exit.
    4. Download a CC item (instead of using a file you've already tested). I usually pick a peacemaker furniture because I know I can trust it's working.
    5. Install that one single item in your new Mods folder
    6. Start the game, create a new save, and see if it works
  • hi!  macbook pro user here!  i had the same problem too but i found a solution.

my suggestion is to turn off your wifi and try to launch the game.

for some reason, when i turned off my wifi and tried to launch the game, i would get an error message back from macOS specifically telling me what file was not letting the game open. i attached a photo of what the error msg looks like.

from there, you can remove said file from your mods folder and continue to do this cycle until the game launches and you receive no error message.

i had to get rid of at least 20 different files ☹️ but worth it especially if you have 600+ plus mods/cc.

i'm aware you can "go offline" on the EA app, but the error message will not pop up unless you turn off your wifi completely.

so, not a complete solution bc you're deleting certain broken or corrupted cc/mods, but at least you get to turn on your game and keep the cc/mods that survived lol

    hope this helps!

  • i tried this and absolutely 0 mods survived, there is literally no broken mods my game is just completely broken. i got an error message for every file until the messages stopped showing up bc all cc was gone and it just wont launch

@mollynbella Having no CC can't stop you from creating a new save.

Please try this, using these exact steps in this order:

    1. Go to Documents > Electronic Arts
    2. Rename the folder that's called The Sims 4
    3. Start the game
    4. Select "Load"

Come back and tell me if the game and tell me these things:

    1. If the game behaved like you were launching it for the first time ever
    2. If there were any saves that could be loaded

yes the game behaved like i was launching it for the first time ever. all my saves have gone. the problem is the game wont launch what so ever with cc in my mods folder. i have downloaded all new cc, its not a mod issue, its the game glitching. my friend's game launches as normal with all the same cc files as me.

@mollynbella Okay. Next thing I'd like you to check is your antivirus: ANTIVIRUS
https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Anti-Virus-blocking-User-Folder-Screenshots/td-p/9572695 I know that says "screenshots," but it can affect the Mods folder too.

You can copy your old Saves files back into your new Saves folder. (This is a normal part of the testing process.) You can also copy back UserSettings.ini, Tray folders, Screenshots/Videos. And reset your game options.
