Sims can't complete cooking on outdoor grills

I have every pack and have a rustic character who is living Off-Grid and does not own a stove. Therefore, my sim can only cook on an outdoor grill or a campfire.

When I set the command to cook after my sim lights the small campfire, The meal starts cooking and the cook-time indicator is activated. Except, my sim then stops attending the meal and the cook timer freezes. My sim simply stops cooking camp/grilled food. The hunger bar drops as normal, and my sim soon becomes famished.

i checked several off-grid grills, fire pits and camp stoves, none of which are working in my game.

Is there something I can do besides use the "make happy" or other cheat to keep my sim from literally ceasing all activity and starving to death? I am playing a simple-living challenge, so I don't want a regular kitchen, or stove at the start of the playthrough. I also don't want my sim continuously needing to go to a bar or restaurant just to fill his hunger bar. He is still able to eat fresh-picked produce he's collected: And you all know what that means for many other motive bars besides hunger.

Thanks for any help you can give me for my game.

  • @mhahse57 can you let us know if you play on PS/Xbox or PC please and if you play on PC do you use mods?

Also what I would do is test this without the off grid/simple living aspects. I'd either remove those from your current household or test on a different household without Simple Living/Off the Grid.

I've had a couple of issues playing both things together in the past. So I'd try testing without them. I have had problems with Off Grid stoves and campfires while playing a Simple Living challenge.

So for example, if you remove the Simple Living trait can you roast hot dogs on a campfire?

Another thing you can try is turning autonomy off.  From what you said, the sim may be getting a autonomous action pushed on them that is breaking the current action.  And one thing that I know does that even with autonomy off is they keep getting a judge decor action that is the absolute worst about interrupting whatever they are doing.  Experimenting, I found that if you have any decor likes in your sims likes\dislikes, the game keeps doing it but if you don't select any decor likes or dislikes, it stops.  So, you might try unselecting those if you have any selected.

    Hope this helps.
