Solved

sims idling excessively

my game is updated with the latest EA sims 4 patch [from March 18th] and I started a new save file, no script mods - I'm not getting any error logs, crashing, lag or anything like this.

However, I am experiencing a lot of my household sims idling and looping standing animations with minimal autonomy going on. Specifically young adult sims - I've tested this with disabling autonomy, enabling autonomy; and even checking "disable/enable played sim autonomy"

Not sure what's going on but want to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Cheers,

  • Anyways, fairly sure this is happening because of the marketplace add-on; probably some sort of code preventing cas/bb cc to function and it’s messing up the rest of my game in an inconsistent way.

Though autonomy is extremely bad right now (looping /repeating tasks) like infants can’t interact with certain sims when they use certain EA hairs idek what’s going on anymore so I give up ✌️

nothing can be done EA needs to fix the game themselves for this to be functional. I’ve done over 30+ hours of troubleshooting

    Hey Crinrict,

at the moment I only have buildbuy items and CAS cc (nothing that requires script mods, and I've play tested this with an empty lot with just CAS CC and still experienced the same issue)

I'm on a new PC I got last week, so my game is relatively "fresh" since I made a new save file  [I'm running the game on a Lenovo legion pro 5 Ryzen 9 8945HX GeForce RTX5070 windows 11]

    UPDATE:

I just started a new save file with no buildbuy or CAS cc and it worked just fine as normal no weird idling.

and then I just started another new savefile with CAS cc and no buildbuy items and I'm still getting the excessive idling -> so it seems to be somewhat linked to CAS cc conflicts. Though nothing is showing broken from my sims cc CAS outfits. I copied 1 outfits through out all 5 outfits and I'm still getting idling (non broken CAS CC)

[additional note] i noticed it takes their needs going into yellow for them to move autonomously - and every time they blink the idle animation resets.

stinkysnail421 It kinda sounds like something you use is broken even if it shows up fine. Maybe testing using the 50/50 method could help identify it?

It did this with all my mods taken out. I needed a friend to take my tray files for my sims and add a sim from her old game to refresh the tray code. Cause my sims with zero cc in my game got an infini are loading screen so they got corrupted.

that being said 100% it’s some sort of buildbuy or CAS cc giving me this idling problem. I cannot even go folder by folder; I genuinely have to go file by file because it is inconsistent what works and what does not. The latest update broke random pieces of cc.

In essence I have to do a complete CC (build buy and CAS) overhaul and even then anything nothing is guaranteed of working if you’re redownloading past dated stuff. Furthermore, nothing alpha related seems to be working (my findings, hair specifically).

  • stinkysnail421 Please test with no mods at all. Don't just disable them -- do a true vanilla test by renaming the Mods folder and deleting the localthumbcache file.

CC not loading properly (one variant of the problem in [CURRENT ISSUE] "Failed to Launch"/black screen (NO words)/some CC missing | EA Forums - 13273203 that EA is testing a fix for this weekend) affects whether that CC is available in CAS. There's nothing about CC coding that can make not this have a gameplay effect.

already done this - when I did that test already: they don’t animation reset but their autonomy is a bit strange now and have issues with infant interaction.

So animation reset is a mod - however autonomy and infant interactions issues seems to BG.

    cheers,

stinkysnail421 Issues when playing without mods/cc at all can be reported in Bug Reports or Gameplay Issues. For animation reset, you might indeed have a mod issue. I don't know of a specific cause, though. Many modders also haven't been able to test mods yet for the current patch.
