Value out of range error (cpp_message.py:107)
Hello,
Value out of range error (cpp_message.py:107) when loading households and exiting CAS
I’m experiencing a persistent LastException error in The Sims 4 that seems to be affecting both loading households/lots and exiting CAS.
The error I’m getting is:
ValueError: Value out of range (cpp_message.py:107)
Context
- Game version: fully updated
- Mods used:
- MC Command Center (latest version)
After some time playing and editing Sims in CAS (including likes/dislikes), I started getting LastException errors.
Current behavior
The issue is not limited to one situation:
- The error appears when loading certain households or entering their lots
- It also appears when exiting CAS
- Sometimes it happens during normal gameplay after a while
- The behavior is intermittent but recurring
Important note:
The affected household does NOT currently have negative funds, so that previous suggestion does not apply in this case.
What I’ve tried
- Deleted localthumbcache.package
- Deleted all previous LastException files
- Reset all Sims (Shift+Click and MCC)
- Adjusted household funds
- Tested households repeatedly
- Played without making changes to isolate the issue
- I deleted families after uploading them to the cloud, and then re-placed them. The error persists when visiting lots.
Observation
Based on testing, it seems like:
Some Sim or household data may be corrupted
(possibly due to exceeding internal limits for traits/preferences) ?
Questions
- Is this a known issue related to exceeding trait limits or corrupted Sim data?
- Is there any way to repair affected households/Sims without deleting them?
- Or is recreating the household the only reliable fix?
Additional information
I would also like to clarify that this issue is not limited to households or downloaded lots.
I am experiencing the same LastException error when:
* Loading vanilla households (for example, the Goth family)
* Entering vanilla lots that come with the base game
* Playing without any custom content related to those households
This suggests that the issue may not be tied to a specific household or lot, but could instead be related to underlying save data or global household data.
Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏
265ryjskx5b0 We can't tell you anything for sure because you still have mods in. Please do this:
- attach your most recent lastexception file
- Rename your Mods folder and delete localthumbcache, then test again (you can exit without saving)
- If you still get an LE, attach that one too, to a separate post saying which test it was. Then test in a new save
