What are some decent skins?

Hey all,

As a not-really-CC-virgin, I've stepped up my game lately and made an account on Tumblr. An entire world opened for me, especially with the Lana CC Finds Tumblr, but I just can't seem to find some decent skins. Some really are HQ but they look creepy on Sims. Also, some skins causes make-up not to show up on the Sims (I feel like the skin is on top of everything, and all the other things I apply are under the skin, if you know what I mean).

What are some nice Skins, and while I'm at it, some good Tumblr's for finding CC? I'm looking for both male and female skins. I'm also confused about the different types of skins.

Sorry... Millions of questions at once, but can anyone help me?

    i use ammonia by madmono coupled with heihu's facemask collection for certain sims, but another one i like is summer skeletons by pyxis. i previously used madmono's knight skin too, but it made my sims look kinda samey after a while and i got tired of the matte look.
    these are all maxis match-esque. idk about alpha cc since i don't use it, maybe try pralinesims.
