What is up with KawaiiStacie’s Mods always breaking and never updating?

So I’ve about HAD it with KawaiiStacie and her mods…and I really really hate to say that, but her mods have broken my game and ruined my save files so many times that I’ve lost count! Each time I’ve tried to just blame it on me not updating my game with her updated mods, but I HAVE LITERALLY never experienced anything like in the picture.

My in game menu wouldn’t show, nor my household panel, aspirations panel, needs bar, etc etc…

On top of that, if I tried to create a new family I received an error 109 message.

After getting rid of some solid (and updated/current) mods—cuz I was just that desperate! I finally tried getting rid of hers…it was her Slice of Life Mod

I come here and see not just that mod, but like all of her mods are having issues. Like what is the deall??? Like I don’t mean to be a rude but at some point maybe it’s time to stop creating so much content and focus on keeping on top of updates. I get she doesn’t have to create mods at all but perhaps making less, and just focusing on tweaking what she considers her staples would not only be more manageable for her, but also just plain efficient for everyone.

  • I highly, highly suggest joining her Discord. THAT is really the only way to see when it breaks. Her site is basically a second thought. Also, there you can report problems that help down the line to trouble shoot what's wrong as updates come out. Also, you'll find other players that are helpful with what to take out, what to keep in, etc. to allow a working game until she fixes it again.

In the end sometimes I just take it out, just depends how bad it's broken at any given time.

I understand the frustration though. I adore the overlay part of the mod especially, so I deal with the punches.
  • I would say play offline to avoid patching for as long as you can... but I don't know if the new EA app let's you keep updates at bay like Origin does.

I give it a few days for patching if I'm that eager to play with the newest update. Make note of broken mods before removing them and update the rest. I only download from creators who are active. Taking months to update mods is not what I consider active. It's understandable to be busy with RL of course.

Also you mentioned ruined save files. I highly recommend making a habit of backing up your game files. It will save you plenty of grief down the road.
  • I feel sad for the modders when they must fix their creations after every update and patch from EA. And some of them have so many mods in their portfolios, I don't know how they find the time to check and repair every mod they have made. The community has lost several talented mod creators in the past few years because of that annoyance. I subscribe to and donate to many creators on Patreon. But there are a few I am no longer supporting now because of the length of time it is taking before their mods are cleared for use or have been updated. I never enjoy doing it, but when it comes down to having a working mod or one that is not working and hasn't for months, I'll support the creator that stays on top of keeping their mods up to date. It isn't a matter of how much I enjoy using that mod but whether or not it is usable and stable. KawaiiStacie is very talented with some very good ideas for some new mods she would like to make and ideas on how to improve the ones she has already released. I wish her nothing but the best with her new endeavors and look forward to seeing what the future holds for her.
  • alot of mods will break and some not needed with patch on the 14th.

A couple of those modders you’ve listed I’ve used, but I’m going to check out the rest. LittleMsSam is amazing because they have probably one of the biggest collections of mods I’ve seen and do a pretty good job (not perfect, as not all—from what I can tell are updated) of updating most of her mods each patch.

Not every mod has to be updated every patch; what determines that is if any new programming put into the game conflicts with the mod's current structure. Some of LittleMsSam's mods may possibly never need to be updated because the part of the game they affect doesn't change.

Franks mods is the language barrier. I have most if not all and subscribed to adeepindigos patreon and she has some really great mods that you may want to look at.

I get it entirely. While I understand they don't have to update their mods, but saying a mod is fixed when it isn't, well that something different entirely. I got rid of her mods long time ago cause they constantly broke my game and I ended up enjoying my game more without her mods. I moved on and found better ones and do not miss them.
  • I'd recommend joining her discord to keep up with the status of her mods. They're pretty good at keeping people up to date. Like...we literally just got word from her staff yesterday.

Just be mindful that modding is not these people's lives, nor is it their job. Stacie almost quit once before because people started getting a little too demanding.

    > As far as the modder you're talking about in particular, I haven't used her stuff in years. The updates were a bit slower than some of her comrades and also I found her website to be quite spammy. Ads and donation links were abundant and off-putting to me. I think I used Slice of Life and some child activities.

Yes! Every time you clicked on her mods pop ups galore! I hate that. I have no issue donating to people, but I do not want it in my face.

    > Ouch :D Yes, we can never be 100% perfect. Even the Game has so many Bugs, which never get fixed somehow. Personally as a simmer speaking, a good Modder is not one with the best ideas, but the one who keeps their mods updated/fixed asap. That is why, i try my best to fulfill my own expectations.

We love and appreciate you LittleMsSam. You are incredible and I wish nothing but the best for you.
