why is my sims not going to grade school after i click to go to grade school

I am trying to send my child sims to school but after I click for him to go he doesn't move. Then a message pop up saying "he is currently in school should he skip" I say no then he just walks around...

Have they recently aged up? I’ve sometimes used “lock door for ____” to keep my toddlers from running away and then forgotten to unlock the door when they aged up and not realized until they don’t go to school…
