@RheaFalloutWe are definitely seeing some loading issues at the moment, but we're also seeing some button commands failing to register as well. This could possibly fall into either category if X won't work.
There's one more step you could try if you haven't already, I've seen a report of it helping another PS player with a similar issue. You can try powercycling your console and disconnecting your internet connection. Then connecting it again and starting up your console. I'm sure you've already checked your console is up to date with it's software but also mentioning that just incase.
If this doesn't work, I would file a bug report by selecting New Topic on the bug thread here:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/bd-p/The-Sims-4-Bugs
We have a current loading bug with an infinite loading screen, but yours looks different to that. So I would title it as you've described it in your first post and I'd include the words "cannot press X to load game". That's because of the console button issues we're seeing too.
If you make a bug report, be sure to list your content in the required box. (If you have a lot of packs it's easier to list what you don't have). That helps them to replicate it while bug testing. Also list all the steps you've tried and that you've been through troubleshooting on the console tech thread.
I do know that I had some controller buttons fail after Week 3 of the Reaper Event (I'm on Xbox Series X) but was able to get them back by powercycling, I'm wondering if this is similar if your X button won't work. I've had CAS buttons failing too and that's been filed as a bug report.
I read today that there's supposed to be a sims 4 update dropping on October 22, I might wait for that and see if my issue continues and if it does I'll make sure to follow your steps and put in a bug report. I've screenshot your reply so I don't forget what to do 🙂
I'm also experienced endless loading on my save with the off the grid lot trait, but I understand that's a known issue and I've popped a me too on that thread. I'm sure by process of elimination we'll get to the bottom of my issue.
Thank you so much for all your help 🙂
- simsplayer8181 year agoHero@RheaFallout Yes that's a good point an update might make a difference, especially if it's something that is potentially caused by the Reaper Event. I actually saw another PS player recently with all kinds of strange things happening to their game but it was all resolved with a patch.
Fingers crossed!- RheaFallout1 year agoSeasoned Ace@simsplayer818 Good news! I can get into my game again! The new update seems to have fixed my X button problem. I got through week four and five of the reaper rewards and everything in my game all seems to be running fine. Hopefully I'll have no trouble next time I load it up.
- simsplayer8181 year agoHero@RheaFallout That's great news! I hope it keeps working okay for you.
But I do have a suggestion, something I'm trying myself. When playing the Reaper Event and also when the event is due to start (so for me that's 5pm Tuesdays UK time) I'm going to try avoiding any lot challenge traits but also calender events at the same time. Or any kind of event. I'm doing that because I'm sure there's a conflict there somewhere. I did that last night and my Reaper Event ran more smoothly and it didn't bug out my console.
- Xemisa2World1 year agoRising Adventurer@RheaFallout Hello, I just wanted to add as a PS4 player, I think something in the Reaper's Rewards (which is fun when my game loads and functions) may be causing issues... my game crashed 3 separate times since this event, and before that it was fine. I am not having known issues with UI, but my game shut down again suddenly. These are the things that *may* be a trigger for my issue... compare notes and see if there is a common thread with yours. These are not in order, but are the things that happened before game crashed: Teens were about to go to high school, just received Ambrosia Society Newsletter, hit R3 button and game got stuck for a second, first time using fastest fast forward while Sims were asleep, and saved over a file # that had previous corruption that I deleted and brought back via USB. Oh, I also have the "Mold" Lot Challenge turned on. Otherwise, no clue. If this is irrelevant, it can be moved to another thread. I wonder if Lot Challenges are an issue (on PS4)?
- RheaFallout1 year agoSeasoned Ace@Xemisa2World Hi I'm wondering the same thing, like it's the events themselves are bugged??
The only weird thing I had before the X button problem was the postman delivered the news letter then just stood by the post box waving at my sim and her dog on a loop until I sent him home.
I'm also wondering if it's all tied to week 3 of the events because my sims application corrupted and I had multiple other issues during week 3 of the happy home login event.
This time I completed week 3 of the reapers didn't go back on my ps4 until week 4 began and that's when I got the X button problem.
The off the grid lot challenge is bugged atm I think, my gen 4 spellcaster save with it is just endlessly loading so maybe it's lot challenges too??
Hopefully next update will fix all our issues!- Xemisa2World1 year agoRising Adventurer@RheaFallout Interesting. We have several Sims players and copies of the game in the family. One is base game and Rewards only and it bugged the least during the Reaper's Rewards Event. After comparing notes with you, I am going to take the mold lot trait off! I think it is noteworthy that delivery of the newsletter may also be a potential trigger. This may be what caused my game to crash and corrupt. I was always moving the camera in the direction towards the mailbox and front of house every time it suddenly happened. Checking mailbox, checking to see if people went to school or work, etc. then it suddenly crashed. Yes, I think certain lot challenges may be a factor! The crashed copy in question has For Rent and the Mold Lot Challenge turned on. On the Base Game copy, played without Off-the-Grid Challenge or Mold Challenge, (which comes with For Rent,) and no problems with Week 1 or 2. On crashed copy, with For Rent and Mold Challenge turned on, it shut down halfway through Week 1! On Base Game copy, finished Weeks 1 and 2 without issues. Still repairing the one that crashed, hope to play Week 3. I will turn off Lot Challenges except for Scare Seeker if I can get it running again.
