[FAQ] Sims 4 Console Mods and CC

Can we have Mods or CC on console?

The short answer is "No." Mods and CC are not allowed on Console.

From "No CC or Mods on Console," an extremely long info Post that is now locked:

  • Hi folks,

Since this thread was created, the Gallery has come to PS4 and XB1. SimGuruLegacy noted that "Creations using CC will not be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Gallery" at this time. I'm not aware of any current plans in the work that'd suggest this will change in the near future. If you'd like to read more on The Gallery and consoles , check out January's Console Patch Note thread: January 16, 2020 Patch Notes - EA_Lanna

wbsekpuplybf it's nothing to do with EA. It's up to console manufacturers. You can also give your feedback to Sony and Microsoft who manufacture the consoles and have their own forums. Modifying a console is also a legal grey area in some countries so it's a complex issue. But it's not in the control of EA. There's a lot of information on the subject online and more detailed explanations of the legal side and the security impacts too that might interest you.

  • Hello, my name is Jessica and I really love playing The Sims. I have been playing it since I was a child, and even now that I am a bit older. For many years, I played on PC and regularly used custom content.
Lately, however, I no longer have my computer and I can’t afford to buy a new one, so I am playing on console.
I have to say that the differences are many—too many to ignore. Not being able to download custom content anymore is making the game feel more boring, and for this reason, I have stopped playing recently.
I would really love it if you could introduce at least the possibility to download custom content, and I am sure that it wouldn’t make only me happy.
Today, consoles have enough power to handle CC safely, and many other games already offer curated or verified content libraries. I kindly ask you to consider adding official support for custom content, or at least a way for console players to access reviewed CC.
It would mean so much to the community to have the same creative possibilities as PC players. Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback.

m8ieg0lx5owe this is really a request for console manufacturers rather than EA/Maxis due to the way consoles are designed. Consoles are a closed platform partly for legal and security reasons.

  • I would love to see mods for console (PS4 & Xbox)

I know it would probably never happen but, I would probably be obsessed with this game if that were possible.

I don’t think PlayStation and Xbox allow mods - unless vetted/packaged by the publisher - which is essentially what the creator kits are, I guess.

I think the reason why there cant be mods on console is that the console doesnt have the framework for it. No folders or files or ways to download stuff. I've never owned an xbox or ps so let me know if im wrong.

Its not a choice by the Sims Team but an attribute of a console.

  • It not cool I don’t have a pc I have a iPad but it cost I don’t like that can yall please download mods on ps4 some people can’t get pc

  • I think that you guys should allow for console players to have mods and CC aloud in our gameplay if we can’t just be able to go and look for them. I think you guys should at least partner up with curse forge just so we can at least get some type of things. It sounds like a good idea to me because it’s also a lot of money to go buy a whole new gaming, PC or whatever just to play the game the gaming PC option also crashes a lot and it  sucks just to play the game I love the Sims four but that’s a lot of money. Also, I think that we should be able to. Switch our gaming packs that we buy on a different consoles at least like if we buy packs on the PS4 or five we should be able to have the same packs on the PC if we buy one.

  • Hello, I play The Sims 4 on Console and I think it's unjustly that we can not have Mods and Custom Content. My Idea is that there is an Button in the Menu where we can install Mods and/or Custom Content. It would be of course controlled by EA. It would be a great to have finally Mods and Custom Content in the Game because EA collaborates with Custom Content Creators.
