Hi folks,
Thank you for your reports on the crashes you've experienced. There's been a lot of advice shared in this thread. I've gathered it here (and will continue too) and pinned it to the top of the thread purely to help you see and find these steps quicker. Please give them a go and let us know how you get on either way. ❤️
A quick heads up, you may notice your post has been moved here. I've merged a number of threads in with this master thread to help keep information and troubleshooting on this in the one space.

My Game is crashing. What can I try?
@PoptartJuniper has complied and shared some troubleshooting steps >>here<< to help limit the crashes. I've shared the steps under the spoiler tag as well, just click to expand. 🙂 Please try these steps as they may help with the crashes you're experiencing.
@manolobeach Are you receiving an error code? Also, the PS4 had a system software update just after the Sims updated. Please make sure you have that update installed. I would not rely on the PS4s auto update. Check it manually.
@ohh_dee7That error is a general error for PS4 and has nothing to do with the Sims game specifically. If you don't wish to do any troubleshooting for your system, then no one can help you. If you change your mind, I will supply a list of troubleshooting steps that you can follow. Or read the link I supplied to the error you are receiving. The same steps will be available there.
I'm getting the error code "CE-34878-0" when I crash!
For members seeing this Error Code "CE-34878-0", these specific steps may help from @PoptartJuniper. Click the spoiler tag directly below to view them. If that error message continues to pop up after trying the troubleshooting, please 'Report Problem' on PlayStation as @SimQARobo advised >>here<<. @SimGuruNick also asked if simmers could share a save with him via DM's (I'll share how further on in the next section).
If the crash is happening with the error code more than one time, there are a few troubleshooting steps for your specific Error Code. I would suggest checking all updates manually and not relying on the auto update on your PS4. Go through the steps one at a time and see if the game stops crashing after each step.
Occasionally it is useful for The Sims 4 team to collect user files (saves, videos, exception logs, etc.) in order to investigate issues.
These are the ways that you can share user files and media with The Sims 4 team:
(Note: These methods may have different file size restrictions. OneDrive or Google Drive is recommended for larger files. If you use OneDrive or Google Drive, please include your user name and a brief summary of the issue, so that we can identify it.)
PC/Mac:
Direct attachment (only for text files)
You can attach a text file directly to a forum post.
The resulting file download URL can be included in a forum post, private message, etc.
Most PC/Mac files that we request will be located in \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\ . For example, game saves for The Sims 4 are located in \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves\ .
Xbox One (videos and screenshots only):
Upload directly from Xbox One to OneDrive

Product: The Sims 4 Platform:Sony Playstation 4 Which language are you playing the game in? English How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%) What is your current game version number? EP03: 1assets.live-EP03.142 What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try going into the Gallery/My Library from Build Mode or from CAS Mode. The game has a long history of also frequently crashing and giving this error code when just exiting Build Mode to go back to Live Mode. What happens when the bug occurs? The game completely crashes and I get PS4 Error Code 34878-0. What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to go in and out of the Gallery/My Library and in out out of Build Mode without the game crashing. Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used. Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
The game just crashed and gave me this error code 4 times in the past hour. I’ve had issues with the game crashing and getting this error code frequently before - typically when exiting Build Mode or CAS. Tonight has been the worst it’s ever been though. Three times I tried going into The Gallery from Build Mode to try and place a lot from My Library and all 3 times the game crashed. The fourth time, I went into CAS and tried going into The Gallery to add a Sim to a household from My Library. The game made it into the Gallery that time, but then immediately crashed again. I submitted reports all four times on the PS4. (Those reports were made under the gamer tag ChelleBelle716 though. For whatever reason, this iPad I’m on defaults to my daughter’s gamer tag, which is the KEW0701.)
So for the past hour and a half, instead of playing and enjoying the game I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on, I’ve not actually played a single minute. I’ve spent it crashing, restarting (which on the PS4 takes 8 - 10 minutes each time), and trying again four times, submitting 4 reports on PS4 and now a bug report on here. This is really, really starting to suck. I just want to be able to play the game and content I bought and paid for without the constant stream of glitches, bugs and crashes. :-(
My PS4 is fairly new (less than a year old). Sims 4 and PS4 software is all up to date. I even rebuilt my database recently. No other game we play on the PS4 crashes / gives an error code. This issue is definitely specific to Sims.
Let's see if we can get that help that error message go away. @SimGuruJoystick shared some troubleshooting steps to help limit crashing in a similar thread, can you please try those and let us know how you got on?
The error is a PS4 error to say that the software crashed.
Below are some ideas on how to fix the problem
Restart your console:
Turn off your console and then turn it back on.
Make sure your game software is up to date:
Go to the PlayStation home screen.
Highlight the game you're playing and press the Options button on your controller.
Select "Check For Update" and install any updates that are available.
Make sure your PS4's system software has the most recent update:
Select Settings at the top of the PlayStation home screen.
Choose "System Software Update" and allow any system updates to install.
Reboot your PlayStation 4.
Clear your PS4's cache:
The PlayStation 4 doesn't actually have a cache to clear. That said: It never hurts to power down/power up your console if you're encountering performance issues in the console.
Press and hold the PlayStation button on your controller.
Select "Turn Off PS4".
Let the PlayStation 4 to fully power down and wait for 10 to 20 seconds.
Restart the PlayStation 4.
Uninstall/reinstall your game:
So you're still having problems? OK, you may want to think about uninstalling/reinstalling the game experiencing the error.
Before you do this, upload your save game to the cloud (or to a USB storage device). That way you won't lose your progress and have to start over once you've reinstalled.
This is only if you have upgraded your PS4's hard drive (read: replaced it with a larger one). Sony suggests re-installing the original hard drive that came with the console.
If none of these steps have helped, you should reach out to PlayStation Support.
Hi I’ve experienced the same issue. But I have noticed that when I made a new save, it wasn’t crashing. In my older save I have loaded non CC paintings from the gallery. I think that is the issue. Somehow the game has flagged the paintings on gallery as CC.

I’ve just started a new save, I wasn’t smart though I should have uploaded my families and houses to the gallery, all those years of family’s and stories gone, I feel sick but hopefully now I won’t crash
I have done all of the things listed, up to and including uninstalling and reinstalling the game - which took hours) and the game still constantly crashes. It’s always at a loading screen - going from Build Mode into Live Mode, exiting CAS into Live Mode, going from Manage World into a household. It crashes multiple times each time I play. I have submitted numerous error reports via my PS4 when the game has crashed (those reports are under the gamer tag ChelleBelle716). I have stopped short of reinitializing my PS4 simply because I’ve read too many other threads of users with the same problem who did reinitialize their PS4 and it did not help. If I had faith it would actually help, I’d be happy to spend the hours it would take to do that - but I don’t have any faith based on what other users have experienced when they did it. Needless to say, it’s very frustrating. The game is sooooo much fun, but the constant crashing makes it hard to play. And on the PS4, it takes the game 8 - 10 minutes to load so when you crash multiple times, you can spend a half an hour or more just watching the game repeatedly loading instead of actually playing. Beyond frustrating. :-(
