Frustrating controls

So far loving the game, but last night my wife and I were playing and the controls for the point and click seem clunky and unorganized. I played the sims 3 for the Xbox 360 and those controls seemed more smooth and flowed nicely. Hopefully something could be done to change them or even give us a option to direct control. Either way a great port. Loving that it’s finally on consoles.

  • I agree. The sensitivity curve for the cursor in editing mode seems particularly bad. It goes from being too slow around the centre of the stick to way too fast on the edge of the stick's throw. This is quite annoying when trying to edit a Sim's appearance and it makes it hard to select areas of them.

  • Definitely took me a lengthy amount of time during my trial (about 6 hours) to feel comfortable with the controls. Like any game, the longer you play the more you get used to it. They just aren't as intuitive as some games. We're kind of getting used to games all having similar controls and so I think that actually makes it harder when a game comes a long that has extremely different controls than what we are used to.  Every year I play Gothic 1 and 2.. and every year it takes me quite a while to get used to the controls of Gothic 1.  (In that game, to interact with objects you have to press CTRL-W.  My pinky is used to going to the shift key, not the control key.)  Just makes me remember that there was a time when it seemed like every game took a weird amount of time to get used to the controls.
