Herbalism not working?

So today, I decided to take my family on a camping trip, annoyingly I can't interact with the herbalism plants in season i.e I cannot discover them. I can take a cutting or I can remove the wild plan...

@Gmll1996 It sounds like the plants are just not ready to harvest yet. Were you in the area long enough for the plants to grow?
