Locked doors don't stop roommates

My roommate keep getting through doors and gates I locked. 

More fun they are them stuck wherever they went because now the game remembers the doors/gates are locked. 

I am on Xbox. Obviously no mods. 

I own and have everything except 1 kit installed. 

This also happens with club members and roommate guests. It doesn't seem to happen with neighbors or other visitors I have. They respect the locks and stay out. 

Employees and butler also respect the locks. Not sure about other family members as I am playing currently with just a 1 sim household (with 2 pets and a bunch of roommates).

It is impossible to keep them from going into my garden and harvesting crops that they steal. My only recourse has been to reset them when they do. Then I have to unlock a door and call them out of the room they were locked in. 

Not sure how they can manage to get in but not out again. 

But that's what happens.
