I'm having this same issue. It's ridiculous. It only ever does this during temporary lag, like exiting build mode, but it never "adjusts" itself when the game is consistently lagging. My game will do this on it's own about 4 times within an hour of gameplay and then all the textures look like complete mush... Paintings are blurry, posters are blurry, furniture, flooring and wallpaper textures look almost unrecognizable and it forces me to restart my game because NO ONE wants to play like that, especially not on a new gen console! Then after I try to restart it, it won't even open. It'll say "The Sims 4 took too long to start." and then I'll quit from the dashboard and try to open it again and It'll be stuck closed for the next 2-3 minutes, and then it repeats when I try again... So I have to restart my whole console just so I can get it out of the loop of being stuck closed and try to finally open my game again. It's such a trash "feature". Just GIVE me the option.
My game acts just like this. I’m on ps4 and have all the packs.
- 3 years agoThis is very sad, it happens to everyone and no developer does anything about it. Honestly, I'm almost giving up on this game.

This is now happening to me! First the B button on Xbox stopped working in Build/Buy, then it started crashing every-time I tried to move a household, and NOW I get the updating graphics screen every 5 minutes. It’s becoming unplayable and unacceptable. I have spent so much money on this game because I like having so many options, but I’m starting to get really upset.

- simsplayer8183 years agoHero@MzMelonz In the absence of any official advice or explanation I'm trying to figure out how I've stopped it in my own game. So I'm leaving this thread open for all players affected.
I've just switched to Xbox Series X and still haven't had it yet. I'm also asking other non Sims Xbox players to keep an eye out for anything like this with other games.
The 2 things I did were to start a new game which is currently about half the size of my old game. I mean, I was so desperate because of crashing that I took the drastic step of starting again. But I couldn't play at all for months so had nothing to lose really.
The other thing I did was to change my console settings as my earlier post specifies. So that my console can control my TV settings. That may be unrelated.
As my game is being rebuilt and my Sims recreated I'm watching out for the message starting up again.
But what we really need is some technical advice from someone involved in game development/manufacturing. Without that we're just in the dark. I've even looked online for anything about it and just found other discussions about it with people looking for answers.
