Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Version 1.79
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Just play the game, it will happen eventually.
What happens when the bug occurs? My graphics are lowered as it says on the loading screen.
What do you expect to see? I don’t really expect to see it at all. We can’t even adjust our graphics ourselves on console. My game runs really well, no lag and it will happen. It even happens when I just opened a save. And it does it on the main screen when I’m leaving.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
This screen is SO annoying. It’s terrible for screenshots because it makes a lot of objects ugly. And it doesn’t even make sense when it happens. Please take this “feature” out. And let us choose what graphics we want if it actually gets laggy or whatever.
@Simsdeelicious I've got an open thread for this here:
It's been affecting players on PS/Xbox for some time unfortunately. There are a few different tips from players as to what they've tried to do to fix it. Mine has stopped since I've upgraded to Xbox Series X in the Spring and started managing my game content (see tips below) but the thread is still open for affected players. Just when I think it's stopped, we find someone else affected. I had the message for a long time on Xbox Series S and I was getting really poor, flickering and shadowy graphics. It started after adding Cottage Living.
For the lag there are some things you can do:
🔹Clear all Sims inventories before switching households, including personal inventory, household inventory and fridges. Go back to previous households and clear items if you weren't already doing this (laborious but worth it).
🔹Keep an eye on the number of households in Other Households and cull random NPCs. I keep it between 80 - 100 Other Households and cull about once a week.
🔹Do the same with your Library saves and clear anything you don't need to store. I clear pre made content that I'm not going to use for example.
Since I've started doing this my game started to run much better, first on Xbox Series S and then on Xbox Series X. When I do get a lag I bring up the Game Options menu a few times to clear it. These tips also helped me with crashing. Since you have a lot of DLC, if you don't already do these things you might find it makes a big difference as your game will be getting really weighed down with extraneous content you don't need.
I also changed a setting on my Xbox that said this:
Settings>tv & display options>device control>HDMI/CEC✓
This setting allows HDMI Consumer Electronics Control to (CEC) to control your display or AV receivers
If you have a setting that looks like this on your PS, try this but take note of what it's original setting was so that you can change it back if it's not the right setting for your issue.
So one or all of these helped me. It was so unstable at one point I didn't think I could add more items.
Hope something here helps! Good luck!
